An exceptionally-easy to play mouthpiece with good tone
solarsea 27.07.2024
I have large lips and I play on a Bach 1 1/2C using a compression-style embouchure. I was looking for a mouthpiece with flatter rims as are some historical models. The Arnold & Sons 10-U is really comfortable in that regard - it has a large and flat contact area that firmly fixes the embouchure in place and distributes pressure evenly for increased comfort. At the same time it has slightly-rounded inner and outer edges which also increase comfort and avoid sharp edges. Cup size and throat shape make for a darker mouthpiece with a lot of fundamental and less higher harmonics. Notes slot easily allowing for articulations, lip trills and increased dynamic range.
I love it and I'll probably get a few spares next time I put an order with Thomann.
