I'm no sonic expert, but I bought this as an alternative to an SM57. Being honest, I didn't really get much of a chance to put it through it's paces, but the times I did use it, revealed (to my ears) a slightly more brighter character as opposed to the darker sounding SM57. Definitely good on a budget though, a velvet-y plastic but feels solid! Comes with a nice cotton mic case too (It'd be a cool pencil case if I still went to school!)

I have used this for both Guitar amp and snare drum. It does both jobs equally well. Good mic and excellent value.
