If you play a 7c and you're looking for higher range the slightly shallower D cup might help. What you gain in this regard you lose very slightly in fullness and volume of sound. Personally, I found no benefit over the 7C (which remains a good 'starter' piece.). The 7 range ( has an outer rim that falls away quite markedly. If that is what you like -fine the 7D is worth a try)
