Good quality and protection, but the design left much to be desired
Em J. 30.04.2023
The case is well made and offers good protection. However, I had issues with its design.
These issues include:
- the fact the case can't sit flat if you have back pack straps on (I think it would have been fine if it only had some small feet on the bottom)
- the uncentered carry handle (it's not in the middle of the case length-wise which is strangely unwieldly)
- Relatively limited space on the inside of the case (the accessories pocket is padded, I find this unnecessary, which reduces the space it could have had)
- Music pocket is smaller than the top of the case which I see no reason for it to be so, however it can be extended. I think it should have just been full size and extendable
- A combination lock, like the one found on some of the cheaper Bam cases, would have been welcome
- Its back pack straps are different to the single shoulder strap, namely in the way you connect them to the case. The back pack straps use clasps, the shoulder strap uses clips. If they chose one method of connection, we would only have needed two straps, and when changing how you are holding the case, you would need only swap one strap over. This is what their Stylus base did, in my opinion a much better decision
- I couldn't fit my Bon Musica shoulder rest in without cramming it into the accessories pocket (though I understand this isn't exactly an issue of the case design)

On the other hand, some of its pros include:
- good comfy back pack straps
- four bow holders and a string tube in a relatively compact case
- good protection for the violin itself, though a very snug fit even for my violin which is a little smaller than some others I've seen

Overall, I ended up finding it had more issues than advantages, and had to return it. A lot of the issues I outlined were clear before I bought the case, however, I didn't realise they would be an issue until I got to try it. I recommend you consider these before possibly buying this case. My friend owns this Bam case (the one I mentioned ealier):
which I believe is a mostly better case, albeit with a perhaps slightly lower quality look on the inside. It has a couple of similar problems, but fewer as I can see.
