My Precious 2600
CovilStudio 10.06.2024
The Behringer 2600 Gray Meanie is a faithful recreation of the iconic ARP 2600 synthesizer, beloved by musicians and producers for its legendary sound and versatility. As an enthusiast of vintage synthesizers, I was eager to get my hands on the Gray Meanie, and it certainly did not disappoint.

First and foremost, the build quality is exceptional. Behringer has done an excellent job of recreating the look and feel of the original ARP 2600, with its distinctive gray and black color scheme and rugged construction. It feels solid and reliable, perfect for both studio use and live performances.

Sonically, the Gray Meanie is incredibly impressive. It captures the essence of the original ARP 2600, delivering rich and vibrant analog tones that are perfect for everything from fat basslines to soaring leads. The inclusion of authentic components and circuitry ensures that it retains the character and warmth of the original instrument.

One of the standout features of the Gray Meanie is its patching capabilities. With its extensive array of patch points, I've been able to explore a wide range of sound design possibilities, from classic subtractive synthesis to more experimental modulation techniques. The semi-modular design also makes it easy to dive in and start creating without the need for extensive patching knowledge.

The Gray Meanie also includes modern enhancements that further enhance its versatility. Features like MIDI connectivity and USB integration make it easy to integrate into a modern studio setup, while the inclusion of built-in effects adds even more sonic possibilities.

Overall, the Behringer 2600 Gray Meanie is a fantastic synthesizer that pays homage to a classic instrument while also offering modern features and enhancements. Whether you're a seasoned synthesist or a newcomer to the world of analog synthesis, the Gray Meanie is sure to inspire creativity and exploration. Highly recommended!

Pure quality

Without a doubt, having many synths of 2K price point. This is sounding very expensive and worth every dollar. Has a very raw sound or can sound very soft depending on how you tune or shape the sounds when using drive on some cable loops.

J
Very inspiring and great sounding synth
Johan73 18.12.2021
Inspiring, great sounding and great quality at a great price point. Not judging whether or not this is true to the sound of the original 2600, it does in any case sound and work great! It just begs to be experimented with and it is pure synth fun. MIDI implementation is very basic, but that's really not what this synth is about, so no big deal. And not only does it sound great – it also looks awesome! I'm thinking of getting another one, just because I like it so much and the price is so reasonable for what it is.

One of the best Behringer clones
Thomas Ikon 19.09.2021
Extremely pleased with the sound and also the quality of construction. The spring reverb also adds a sense of vintage magic to the final sound. Maybe one of the best Behringer clones.

Amazing value for money
Neoterics 26.06.2023
So i already bought some Behringer 2500 modules and was looking to buy 2 or 3 more oscillators for my set up, but then saw how cheap this 2600 was, i get 3 oscillators plus a load more modules including a filter modulator noise generator sample and hold and more......

Build quality is excellent, sliders are very accurate, and im very impressed with the sound, it has midi and usb which is really useful compared to the original, and some options for pedal control.

its also perfectly compatible with the Behringer 2500 modules, however you need to be careful using the 2600 with some Eurorack modules, best to check if they are compatible before trying, you could damage some of the modules because of high voltages that the 2600 produces via cv

One excellent analog synth.
Synthscape 03.06.2021
Looks great, feels great, sounds great!
Always wanted a modern version of the 2600 and Behringer delivered it.
I love everything about it and it is always inspiring to create sounds on this synth. The only negative i can complain about is that the two filter modes do not sound different enough, i would prefer a LP/BP/HP switch instead. And a -1/0/+1 octave switch on each oscillator would be useful, too. But other than these minor details, i absolutely LOVE it!

It's not a Moog Mother-32
Bene1966 06.01.2023
It's not a Moog Mother-32 but Behringer's 2600 Gray Meanie is nevertheless an enjoyable synth to experiment with. I mention Moog because of the very natural decay it has which the Behringer does not have. I also own a Novation Peak and Elektron Analog Keys of which the latter I found sounding closer to the Moog.

Slider heaven
John Cook 25.01.2023
The 2600 is such fun to play with and explore sound design. Very well constructed, and looks great too. Sliders feel nice to me, though I'm just a hobbyist. I have it mounted on a rolling cart, with a 19" Eurorack adapter below holding a few utility modules (sequencer, Maths, effects).

If I had it to do over again, I might just get the standard version instead of the Gray Meanie. The reverb sounds fine, I doubt I could tell any difference between this and the digital one.

Great semi-modular
mike solar 29.05.2024
this thing sounds fantastic - super analog! Reverb tank is nice but not as good as original (it's smaller and not as lush). With external reverb/effects, this is a beast though!
