I needed a good quality monitor and HQ video recorder to operate with my Blackmagic ATEM mini extreme so that, principally, I could record myself at my weekly Zoom meetings, and if I needed to absent myself from the meeting for a short while, I could seamlessly playback the recording of myself (via this unit through the ATEM) without any of the attendees realising that I was not there in person! It was then very easy to switch back to live when I returned. I did try a much cheaper alternate version of this type of unit before purchasing the Blackmagic Design Video Assist, but that cheaper item just did not compare in any way at all. The Blackmagic Design Video Assist however, just does the job perfectly. Highly reccomended.

Excellent in every way

Robust and made to do what it should do. Excellent GUI and build quality. Heavy on batteries but 12V-17V supply can be used to externally power or you can use NPF dummy on the back. Does not charge the NPF batteries when plugged in on the 12V supply so bear that in mind. The display is perfect for indoors and plenty bright enough. The fans are silent and you cant hear them at all so no problems with causing white noise on externally mounted mics on camera. Note that the USB-C is only USB2.0 and is used for updating the firmware only. It does not have the ability to record to external SSD. If you want this function you must get the 12G models. This is not a toy like the Ninja and other screens out there.
