Well, yeh its great for blues, not as humped and retains more bass than a TS, I would say it has more character in its break up than a TS, the BD2 is transparent but much better for core tone than a TS, in fact aTS stacked into the front of this and you can get metal tone. TS is better for boosting an already driven sound but this can still do that. Iwanted one of these for 20 years, but never got around to it, until now and I must say I love it. I use it on 75% - 100% gain as a midgain sound in a prog metal band, I have lots of mid gain pedal and out of the 9 i have the only 2 i prefer cost 150-200 euro each and they are only better due to more eq options, but dont be fooled this pedal can do many styles especially stacked with other good pedal. Quality is usual Boss standard, I am not usually a fan of Boss drive pedal, they seem a bit sterile to me, but this has a very natural amp like sound and response best Boss drive and one of the best for stacking be it as pre gain boost, post volume boost , or core tone being boosted by another OD pedal in the front.
EDIT: my pedal has recently started to die randomly while playing, volume drops out sometimes suddenly, sometimes gradually, i am certain it is just my pedal, but not so sure i trust bosses mega robust reputation now, shame i love the sound of this pedal, marked quality to 3 as result
