Got a pair of these to replace two V 30's in a Marshall Silver Jubilee Vertical Cab. I found the V 30's, even when broken in to be harsh and did not like them at all. I also got rid of my Marshall Silver Jubilee 20 Watt Amp as I found the Amp to be very fizzy. I purchased a Marshall 800 Studio Amp (which is brilliant and very organic sounding) and I replaced the V 30's with the V Type Speakers. Amazing sound (IMO), after I broke them in for 30 hours. There is some volume coming out of the Cab now with the 20 Watt 800 with the Master at 4! I think that the V Type are about 50% Greenback, 25% V 30 and 25% Heritage (IMO). It is a great all round speaker (and light) for Blues, Rock, Classic Rock and 80's Metal. I have a Creamback in a Marshall DSL 40CR and the V Type is brighter that that, but very well balanced and not at all harsh and they also do not have a mid spike, like the V 30's. Since the 800 is only a single channel Amp, I use a TC Electronic Spark Boost thru the Effects Loop with the Mid Boost turned on for Solos and the sound from the speakers is superb and really cuts through the mix. Another winner from Celestion at a realistic price.
