Initially I purchased this speaker as a replacement for a K100 speaker, which blew up. Initially I was blown away by how full and balanced this speaker sounds. I find V30s overly harsh in the high mids, Creambacks overly saturated in the low mids and K100s lacking in definition. The Redback speaker seems to combine the best of all three. Monsterously fat tone that is suited for any style, from twangy cleans to crushing high gain. The 150w power rating also allows this speaker to be used as a single speaker with pretty much any amp.

Great low-mid oriented speaker
Gundabad Orc 12.02.2019
The title says it all. If you want to tame an amp with too much high mids, this is the speaker for you, as it delivers the traditional Celestion voiced-clarity with a good emphasis on the low-mid territory. The treble is still there, and the lows are very good too. I sold my Vintage 30s, which sounded a little too agressive with my ENGL Blackmore, and I definitly prefer these. Mind you, I like V30s with lots of other amps who benefit from a more open-sounding speaker, but with my ENGL these sound much more balanced and thicker, both miced and in the room.
The sensitivity rating at 100dB does seem a bit misleading, as the tamed high mids make this speaker sound a bit quieter than the louder V30s I had before. But I don't see that becoming a problem, unless you're planing to mix speakers in the same cab - in that case, I'd rather mix it with something like a T75 or something with similar output.

Great balanced cleans and smooth overdrive (but not dark at all)
Golimonkey 09.11.2022
I have been fighting with shrill and buzzy distorsions from my amp for years now. This speaker is perfect match for my JCM800 2203, now it sounds bright, tight, with just enough bottom but not shrill at top end. It had always been a bad speaker that was messing up my sound. Tried lots of popular speakers and have never been even closely satisfied (v30(horrible), classic lead, celestion wolverine, HH-custom and so on) Only alternative that I would look at is G12-65 (it was found in old marshall cabs and it was a big factor in the sound that made them famous). Highly recommended.

Swap with a G12M-70
hah--- 06.12.2023
Marshall JCM-800 combo with the G12M-70 had too piercing highs and lacked low mids. Swapped with G12H-150. Now I have more pleasant highs, complex low mids but a bit bland high mids. Sound is quite creamy. It was exactly what I wanted but in hindsight, it’s not better, just different.

Best of both worlds

I bought this to use in a home made cab to use with an orange amp. I now use it as my go to transportable cab. Its got a very high wattage so it can take anything that you plugg in. The nest thing about this speaker is that it still has the characteristics of this range of celestion speakers green back tupe sounding bit with massive power handling.

Redback - Tried, True = Toatal Sonic Vitality and Harmonic bliss
J5150 10.09.2024
Really one of the best, i replaced a very old 12" fender Special with this after having a redback before in a 5150 Iconic combo i didnt hesitate with this purchase. Put this into a fender Stage 112SE, its a completely new amp now for me, for full sonic attack the amp pushes hard from 3 but that may differ for alternative amps, but definitely needs driven, but isn't shy when played at lower level's. cannot recommend this driver any higher.
