This tin whistle is quieter than the Clarke Sweetone. Its tone is soft and airy, and it lacks the high-end crisp of the Sweetones -- this is nice especially for playing airs and slower reels, but I'm not sure if the sound would cut through when playing with a band.
The whistle has an "old-school" wooden fipple, which I found slightly harder to make a sound with than the standard plastic fipples.
Finally, I must say that this pipe looks very pretty, so it is also a nice piece of decoration!

Nice little pennywhistle!
vortaenius 04.07.2021
I had a lot of fun learning to play the penny whistle with this Clarke whistle. All in all, it's a cheap instrument, no doubt; the sound is fine, though, and playability is good. Just don't expect to get anything decent-sounding out of it as a complete beginner. This took me a while to learn! Overall, pretty good value for the price and fun to own.

A more gentle sound than you might expect
Daniel4610 04.06.2014
I own several whistles in this key and I think this one is my favourite. It might not be as bright a sound as most whistles with a cylindrical bore and plastic fipple, but it has a soft flutey quality I really like. Great for slow airs. It handles really well but requires some TLC in the low notes. It's also worth warming it up beforehand as it does get moist quite easily. It's worth it for the sound though.

Beautiful airy sound

Wow, I love listening to the Irish and Celtic music and I thought to give a try, so I checked online to find out which is the best pennywhistle for beginners. I am so happy that I bought this. I am practising and I hope I'll play just like I hear in Irish songs. I love the sound of this whistle. 5 stars from me. Super satisfied.

Perfect whistle for the house
BigJoBigToe 19.04.2024
I bought this whistle after playing a Feadóg for a year. This whistle isn't as loud as the Feadóg and I would imagine that playing it in a session / with a band might be difficult. But, I have found this whistle perfect for practicing at home and for recording. We also prefer to use this for live gigs where the whistle can be mic'd up as well.

Very good whistle
Alexander97 15.02.2021
I had no previous experience with tin whistles, so my opinion is a bit unreferenced, but everything about the whistle is perfect, I haven't had any problems. They also include a tutorial for the notes of the whistle as well as a few folk tunes.

Very high quality and clean sound for its price
Jakob Dam 17.06.2023
This flute punches way above its price. Wind noise is minimal, and the clarity is great with a good body. The sound character is thin as it’s supposed to be; but not sibilant or metallic, like most other cheap Irish flutes. It records well in condenser as well as dynamic mics and also has a great sound on its own, without any amp.
The weight is low, making it easy to play for longer sessions for beginners.

Great!

I ordered the D and the C for my uncle who is simply obsessed with them! I wish I could say the same for the rest of my family who are at their limits from his never-ending playing. All that aside, they sound amazing, the tone is very deep and rich and my uncle said that they even smell great, so I will definitely purchase one for myself!
