For several years I had been using cheap patch cables in my home studio.
I was never completely happy with them as they were noisy, unstable and wore out easily.
So it was time for me to buy new cables of a better quality. Of course I did not want to spend a fortune on them, especially since I always need quite a lot of cables.
After comparing different products and prices I decided to give these cables with gold-plated and hand-soldered Rean connectors a try ...
I have been using this 3 m cable as well as a bunch of shorter cables of the same type in my studio for several months now and they have not disappointed me. They are very stable and sturdy and my recordings sound better now.
I use the cables in various combinations and for different purposes, as connections between electric guitars, amps, effect boards and pedals, synthesizers, interfaces and so on. Works fine.
What I realized though is a disturbing noise in my vocal recordings that I only get when I leave the cable in my interface while recording over the XLR input. Actually I don't know if it happens because the cable is asymmetrical or too poorly shielded or because of the phantom power. Since I never record anything simultaneously when doing the vocals I just pull it before vocal recordings and the problem is solved.
Good decision, no regrets!
I will probably need more 3 meter patch cables in the nearer future and buy these again.
