BI
Tone and comfort
Benjamin I. 29.12.2022
My Cort folk had heavier gauge strings for "punchier" tone but they were harder to play, making clean pull-offs and hammer-ons was difficult. Not so with the 10-47's. And the whole of the playing time is an easier time because less muscle is needed to just push the strings against the frets.

When I play fingerpicking I don't use the nails, only the flesh of the fingertips, so fewer highs are emitted. Combined with thicker strings that have less highs, some of the acoustic's nicety is lost. The 10's give out more highs, problem solved. Moreover I play the bass, so nails have to be super-short. Playing with a pick makes the change more apparent.

The tone is not less powerful because what is lost in "punchiness" is gained in harmonics, the energy struck into the string is the same, so the wood's vibration is just as strong. And it seems I felt the extra highs as much as they can be heard. I realize the 12's made the tone metallic, too.

So now it will be 10-47's only for me. The 12-53's were also D'Addario so only two strings needed a tiny filing of the saddle to adjust intonation.

My fingers experienced an orgasm
Evgeniy Temnikov 15.01.2022
This review was written through a translator.

These strings are just salvation for my fingers, there were 13-56 strings on my guitar, it felt like my fingers were being cut with a knife, but as soon as I bought this kit, the guitar playing started playing with new colors. I recommend these strings to all beginners (like me).
I advise you to replace the first string with a 10 gauge, the 9 gauge is very easy to tear.

Thank you Thomann!

Sorry, but no cigar!
Tor Slotmann 11.07.2023
I’ve tested all three sets through on my Taylor acoustic dreadnought, and I must admit that I don’t understand the high ratings at Thomann.

The low E-string of all three sets resonated very uneven. The A-string and the D-string sounded okay. But 1st, 2nd and 3rd string had a sound I can only describe as fizzling and somewhat unpleasant.

These strings are probably okay, if you use a pick for all your playing styles. I play acoustic in all sorts of ways: strumming, picking, hitting the strings with my flat hand – usually combining these techniques. So, perhaps, I just have to have a thicker set of strings for my style.

D'addario the shredding edition!
Alexandru Ghitulescu 11.12.2019
Very nice strings for playing fast and technical your acoustic guitar, real Mississippi Blues sound...For me the wood of the acoustic guitar, the pins and the strings are the most important thing, the rest is just good or bad crafting...Nowadays instruments are done very well, it's a myth with 50's and 60's guitars or that handcrafted doctrine...Every instrument is particularly handcrafted when the luthier glued together the neck into the body...So...It is making sense...

Terrible
Nick T 13.03.2015
I bought these after a recommendation from a friend. I was extremly dissapointed. There is no life in these strings at all.

I put a fresh set on within an hour, they sounded and felt completely dead. I even heard a diminish in tone between first putting them on and after settling them in.

I've tried a lot of different strings on my acoustics, Martin, Ernie Ball, Fender...etc. but these are by far the worst I've ever tried. For me the reigning champion is still Elixir, I look no further for both acoustic and electric strings and I would suggest you do too if you're experimenting with new strings.

just "good"
Hamstersau 17.02.2014
What I really like about these strings is that they lose their "fresh" sound very fast. I tend to put new strings on my guitar one or two weeks before a concert, so they don't sound that brilliant anymore. With those strings it is enough to do that a few days before getting on stage.
But don't get me wrong, the strings don't lose their "sound" for a very long time.
They last long and sound good.

Wonderful sound for acoustic guitars
Max1904 20.02.2014
These strings are perfect. They create a very warm and beautiful sound and last for a long time. I use them on a handbuilt acoustic guitar and they support its natural sound.

If you play without a plek, they will last forever.

Ok, but very light

Typical D'Addario quality. Good strings, but don't expect a great acoustic sound from .010 gauge strings... Might be ok for you if you cannot play a heavier gauge.
