I've buy this set for my Harley Benton PJ-5 guitar.

Tone is great, black look is beautiful! . It can be compared to Daddario Chromes which I have previously. Amount of high end is similar. Strings are very "bouncy" with nice warm sound. Fell is very good, they are even smother and less "grabby" that Daddario flats. They are still fresh, but for now, slap and pop sound better, more present on this set than on Chromes. Muted notes are quieter than on rounds or flats.

But it seems that they won't be so durable as flats, I suspect that pick can damage tape.

Low B string is very thick. It seems that not every bridge can handle that, I've destroyed tape on B string when I tried to put in into Fender HiMass bridge. Be careful during installation!

Overall, worth to check.

P
The perfect flatwounds?
Peaceless 02.02.2018
I first ran into these strings when looking for some sex-appeal on my precision bass. Boy was I surprised at the punch it started packing. Having used normal chrome D'Addario flatwounds, I have to say these have the presence of good well-aged rounds but without the abrasion. And the B does not disappoint either.

I have these strings on all my basses now. The only thing I can't play well with them is Slap, but that's because I don't use a compressor.

Highly recommended.

I love the smooth feel of these strings and they don't squeak at all as your fingers glide over them. The tone is brighter than a flat wound and duller than a round wound. I have a set on my G&L L2000 and love the mellower vintage tone. I also use them on my Fender Kingman acoustic bass. They give it a more upright sound and eliminate the squeak that the stock strings have. They are not as loud and they may not be the best choice if you don't play amplified. They fit perfectly on both bases with no adjustment.
