I've heard people rave about Danelectros for their uniqueness and I've also seen people a bit disappointed in them, so I wasn't quite sure what I was going to get. However, it's been way better than I expected. It's very lightweight, the neck is very playable (sort of a thin C shape), the lipstick pickups are really nice and twangy, and have their own vintage sound. But, it's the orange metal flake finish that really sells it for me. It's stunning, especially under artificial light. I look at this and immediately just want to play it.
I also have a MIM strat and a PRS SE and it's fair to say that the build quality of this isn't quite up to that standard, but in all honesty it's not bad. I was half expecting it to be in bits, and it just wasn't. It's well put together and played nicely straight out of the box. The aluminium nut did creak a bit when bending on the B and high E strings but I went over the nut slots in pencil and that solved it no problem.
It's just a really fun guitar. If you're gigging constantly maybe it's one to stay away from as it isn't as robust as other brands but for me it's a perfect addition. Looks great, sounds great, and their is nothing quite like it. For the price, it's great value. If you get it, I imagine you'll love it.
