I use the product in studio environment. The main features are the volume control and talkback. I'm quite dissappointed with the product.
There are bunch of features which work. Unfortunately many that don't.
First of all, the talkback button is located right next to the talkback mic. The mechanical sound the button makes is like stinging with a stick to your eardrum, if you are not careful with the levels. Did they ever TEST this function? As a fact the talkback is so heavily compressed that pushing any button of the unit will produce a massive cracking sound to headphones output. Yeah right, you can override this by using the remote app...
When using the remote app talkback, the engineer's voice is routed also to speakers... Oh why?
Manual suggests (and also the customer service) that line outs could be used for external headphone amp. However, the talkback is not routed there so this application of line out doesn't actually make any sense. Cue output is now derived from rear panel headphone out – unbalanced.
Minor flaws:
Volume pot produces digital rattling noise – sometimes.
Powering and unpowering this gear will cause massive bang on your speakers. Make sure you have foolproof power up sequence at yor studio
This gear was supposed to be the centerpiece of my studio, replacing the computer-dependent RME/TotalMix setup of mine.
And yes, not to forget to mention: The first unit I got was faulty. The vol pot did not work at all... Thanks you Dangerous Music for sending me a replacement unit directly! Yet, I don't know if I will stay with this unit either!
