a must-have synth for the price
omgedo 29.02.2020
Bought the Prophet about 2 years ago, loving it since. Very versatile instrument and the sounds are magic to my ears, especially with added reverb. The sound signature may not be for everyone but hey, what is. :-)

pros
- build quality is great
(some people are complaining but it seems that I got lucky0
- I very much like the keyboard
- very useable layout, almost everything is well thought out
- dat phat Prophet rich sound
- looks as good as it sounds!

cons (all minor in my opinion)
- did encounter a few glitches with various elements from time to time, but nothing a reboot wouldn't fix
- mod/pitch wheels being above the keyboard took some adjusting to
- the display is a joke

Love this synth. Would definitely recommend 16 voices, 8 was right away not enough. With multi-voicing of this synth, running two sound and may be a sequencer all at the same time, you just need 16 voices.

Have the synth for couple months now, sound are very soft, what I really like. Could not get really sharp sound until now, if that is what you seek, maybe look for other synth.

All in all synth really worth it. With 16 voices and all abilities would buy it again. (also over Prophet 5 and 6)

A joy to play
Sigmoid Al 11.05.2020
Very nice solid construction and high quality controls and keyboard. If you like the DSI sound then this will please.

A lot of possibility, I recommend you try one and see if you love it or not. The physical quality of this synth is great so it is just a matter of if it fits your budget and taste. Some people seem to dislike the idea of the digital oscillators (DCO) at the start of the signal chain.

IMHO let your ears decide for YOU!

Everybody has an opinion, some say another DSI, the Mopho X4 is no good, but again, if you play one, you will probably find it is a lot of fun with many sonic possibilities...

The Rev 2 Prophet synth sounds lovely, just different from say the OB6 with its VCOs. (Which is also a corker).

JV
One of the best modern analog polysynths
Jean-Claude Van Damme 05.09.2022
The build quality is outstanding.
The soft keybed is pleasant (with expressive enough aftertouch) and makes for a good master keyboard.
The programming of sounds is about as clear as can be.
While the VCOs, VCF and VCA are analog, modulations are digital: that's the simplest way of building the kind of extensive modulation matrix this synthesizer sports. That's excellent for flexibility, but it tends to make audio-rate modulations sound duller than if they were fully analog.
Other synths of this brand have fully analog modulations, and thus sound better, to flexibility's detriment.
The same can be said about effects like distortion, or the high-pass filter for example: some DSI/Sequential synthesizers offer these as part of the analog signal chain, but this one only offer them as algos in the digital FX section, which comes with inherent limitations.
All in all, this compromise helps keeping the synth half affordable while amazingly featured.

Great Versatile Synth!
Null_Route 04.01.2021
The Rev2 is one of the most _versatile_ hardware synths out there. It has 4 LFO's, 8-slot MOD matrix, 16 voices, and, hey, an extra Envelope Generator thrown in for fun! It also has on-board effects. My personal favorite feature is the "Operator Slop" knob; I was looking for that raw 80's VCO sound.
And, yeah, the Rev2 isn't a VCO synth - It's not an OB-6 or Prophet-6. Those synths have a certain charm, but they're in no way as _flexible_ as the Rev2.
My recommendation: Get this Rev2, _then_ get the OB-6 :-)

Blown away!
Buddha Vybez 19.08.2023
The rev2 has blown away all my expectations and has truly inmersed me into a new workflow. A whole new universe of possiblities when it comes to sound design. The interface is very intuitive and its all pretty much there without having to go through extense menu diving.
The sound is absolutely amazing, if ur thinking about getting a rev 2 just go ahead ...Synthwise , id say its the best value for price atm.

Loads of possibilities
Ainz 22.08.2019
I love this synth, it's a modern classic, plenty of info online. It's not as immediate as other synths (a bit of menu diving), so maybe not as inspiring to people who want instant gratification, but if you're willing to spend some time with it, you can really get some amazing sounds. Like any synth it has it's limitations, but the amount of features on this for the price is great. It also feels great to the touch and is well built, however, these synths are known to be a little bit temperamental/buggy at times. Having said that, nothing that can't be worked around and the DSI support is great. All in all a great tool to have!

Astounding Synth
Conz 17.10.2017
I first heard a demo of this on Sonic State and, immediately after, just had to buy one. This is probably the biggest "random" buy in quite some time and, after receiving it, I have zero regrets as it is one of the best and most versatile sounding synths I've ever owned and / or played with. Great price from Thomann too.

Prophet is back!
Movin_Tom 09.12.2018
Very high cost performance. Utilizing the maximum number of pronunciations of eight or sixteen sounds, it is possible to create rich sounds using two layers. There are also parameters that have never existed, and it is possible to create a variety of sounds.
Design is also Prophet and it is wonderful.

L
Brilliant synth which could use a few future features to make it more briliant..
Leftystrings 13.10.2018
In short: great sounding synth. Very good build quality and nice keybed. Easy to use: one knob one function. Some menu diving required for configuration, but menu structure is a breeze to use.
Could use a transpose sequencer to make it perfect though.

Pro's
- Easy to use, nether need the manual
- Although the number of features seem limited at first, it offers enough flexibility without becoming overwhelming

Con's
- When you turn on the unison mode, you loose all polyphony. You can limited this affect by enabling split mode.
- There is no key triggered transpose for the poly sequencer. You use the gate sequencer as an alternative note sequencer with some limitations).

Update: I have tried several analogue synthesizers, but this is still the best for me. Its sound is stunning, especially with a good external reverb effect like Strymon BigSky
