Becoming convinced this is exactly what I hoped it was: a way to do rough mixes/starting productions on headphones without falling into phase issues and traps by simulating the cross talk of speakers but NOT being a simulation of a ‘historic mixing room’ or colouring the sound. In saying this I’m surprised at how useful I’ve found the other rooms though, mixing room B especially just sounds natural. Club and Car are also helpful.
Long story short: My mix translations are definitely improving, I’m avoiding sneaky phase issues and can mix on phones for far longer and with more confidence that I can push panning and imaging and have it hold up.
Using HD650s and MDR-7506s which both have compensation profiles in the plug in.
