As a professional percussionist and cajon player I've used different brands and types of foot tambourines over the years. Many of them needed adjustments to work properly and still they would fall apart after many gigs. I tap the beat with the FRONT of my foot, not the heel. So I don't know what it's like to use it on the back of a shoe.
I absolutely love this foot tambourine. It has so many benefits over those that need to be pulled over your foot with an elastic band. After a while the elastic band would always wear out or tear and they're not built so you could simply replace the band. Plus the tambourine would often leave a mark across the top of your shoe from making it bounce back and forth. You don't want that on a nice suede leather gig shoe.
So here's what I like about this tambourine:
PROs:
- Great sound
- Very quick and easy to put on and off. You can put in on single-handedly which can be very useful in between songs or sets (or when you forgot to put it on during a song).
- Versatile: You can use it on the heel or on the front/upper part of your shoe. It also works with flip flops. You can adjust the grip with the little wheel.
- I can adjust the loudness by sliding it from different angles under the shoe laces.
- It's very small and lightweight.
- Durable build quality. Thick wood.
- Very loud if needed.
CONs:
- Only works with shoes (compared to those with elastic straps).
It's a very good product and a joy to play cajon with it.
