Very basic wah pedal, but sounds creamy
DanielPicon 21.05.2017
This pedal is very basic, which is not an issue, I knew what I was getting, I got what I paid for.

My first wah ever was the dimebag model which is twice as expensive, it had tons of features, most of them I did not use at all. I sold that one a long time ago cause I wanted to get a normal and more classic wah. So now I got this, I'm still getting used to it. But it sounds good overall.

Nothing to say about the quality, it's built like a tank.

Only comment I would like to add as feedback would be that I think the rubber raisers the pedal has at the bottom should have an easier way to remove them. It has been a struggle to attach this to my new pedalboard, basically the rubber feet are too tall and the Velcro doesn't stick properly to the pedalboard because of those rubber things. I was able to unscrew the screws, take off the rubber things and then upon trying to put the screws back in, basically it did not work without the rubbers, so in the end I just put the rubbers back and accepted my defeat.

Interesting note: when I took the 4 screws off, I took a sneak peek at the insides of the pedal. I would say more than half of the pedal is empty air, I guess it's a fairly simple effect, it's just big enough for our big feet.

Overall, creamy pedal.

Keep it simple !
DannyP 27.11.2020
Over the past decennia, I have toyed with some really fancy and expensive wah pedals, but somehow I still prefer the simple GCB95. There are no Q-knobs or any possibilities to tweak your tone, but somehow it sounds just *right*. It has that unmistakable 70's psychedelic vibe, and that's what I love about it. Sounds great on clean and overdriven sounds. There's a reason why this is the world's most sold guitar pedal. Sometime simple and basic is good enough, don't let anyone tell you otherwise :-)

All the wah you need!
Disident 12.01.2021
Sure there are a lot of wah pedals on the market with loads of extra features and tweaking possibilities, but if you have no need for crazy experimenting, this is really all the wah you need. I've tried a bunch of them and always return to my trusty 95. It has no knobs that can get loose over time, it's built like a tank and I can stomp on it all I want without worrying it'll bail on me.
Whether you play rock, funk, pop, metal.... it's a great addition to anyone's pedalboard for sure!

No issues except a small adjustable one
Benjamin I. 01.08.2022
All the wahs in the Thomann range were listened to in order to conclude this one has the best tone, and all kinds of resources allow the comparisons so no need to talk at length about the tone. The thing is built tough, the hinge was silent at first then suddenly became squeaky but a few drops of oil obviously solved this.

Both inputs are tight and lock well, the hinge's range of motion is natural, not too long, not too short. Only the battery holder is plastic, not as tough-looking as the rest but it's underneath where nothing will touch it unless the wah is dropped, so it should be as durable as the rest with some care.

Only thing was, the switch barely registered and the pedal had to be pushed hard to the very max, so I removed the bottom cover to access the adjustment nut on the switch. I raised it a half-millimeter and now it engages easily with an audible click whereas it could barely be heard before.

By the way, opening it showed the circuit layout is clean, and all the soldering is done neatly. So five stars overall.

A little squeaky, especially in the lowermost position. Cuts the treble in the middle when it is off.
Needs modification.
Soldered out buffer stage, swapped 0.01 capacitor for 0.022, soldered true bypass. Instructions are on the internet. The cost of the modification was 1 dollar (capacitor).
As a result, working frequency range became a bit lower, fat sound and true bypass. And all this for less than $100.
I'm very happy with it!

You can go wild with this thing, love the sound and response. Depends on your guitar and amp of course but I manage to get awesome feedback for harmonics just by slightly adjusting the pedal to higher frequencies... needs some practice but makes your guitar scream :D

Great tone, great durability
Anonymous 14.01.2016
GCB95 is exactly what you would expect. Very good tone in a small and durable box. After 4 years of almost everyday use it does not show any signs of wear.

I mostly played it using Stratocaster, Telecaster and Les Paul Guitars through a 74' Fender Twin Reverb and a Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9. It has shown a nice frequency spectre and the right amount of aggresiveness for rock music as well as gentleness for softer songs.

It had only one downside: it came with a non-working power socket, which had to be replaced.

All in all: good buy, if you like a classic wah sound, but would not suffice if you want versatility, since it does not provide any EQ or other controls.

Disappointed for the first time.
Reï H 11.10.2022
I was looking for an actually decent wah, and this one was a really bad experience for me.
Worked really well the first time, even though it was extremely sensitive.
After using it like, 5 times, it stopped working.
I put full batteries in it, even plugged it, only works when it wishes to.
Also the battery that I put in it first died really quickly so it’s really hungry for power.
yeah, not so sure about this pedal.
