After five years, these picks are still the best, giving me the warmest vintage-sounding tones I desire
Anonymous 02.03.2017
Over the years, I have tried so many different picks from so many different companies, from the cheapest to the most expensive ones. But I clearly remember that first time I purchased Dunlop Gator Grip five years ago, I was blown away by the feedback, feel, and sturdiness of the pick. Dunlop Gator Grip is truly on a completely different level when compared to other picks. I have tried so hard ever since to replace Gator Grip with some other pick just even for the sake of 'change' and trying something new, but every time I have failed miserably, because no pick ever comes close to Dunlop Gator Grip for me. These picks are marvelous, very well-built, sturdy, extremely durable, offering a fantastic grip, and most important of all the tone they offer is warm and incomparable.

When you first purchase the pick there is a white powder on the pick that will give you an unbelievable grip of the pick and makes the overall experience of playing very pleasant. It is true that the powder will fade away far too soon, however I have never experienced that making a problem.

The size of the pick has always been for me the best of all, it is as if this size is the most perfect and fit size a pick can ever have. It is not too big and it is not too small, it is just about the size that can get locked up between your fingers very easily, accompanying to play the fastest riffs without a problem of sliding away from your fingers, i.e the pick does not slide easily and will accompany you in playing slow delicate chord progressions up to playing Jazzed-out complex patterns, and heavy metal riffage. I used to play my electric guitar only with my nails and fingers when playing stuff like Neil Young, to get that delicate warm sound out of the guitar, however, Gator Grip ever since has offered me the same tone, if not even warmer.

This pick is versatile. I used to use different picks for each purpose, but with Dunlop Gator Grip, I am able to get the tone I want for anything I would like to play. It makes everything sound warmer and with more depth.

The tone, warmness, and depth you get with Dunlop Gator Grip is like no other. I have tried wooden picks, plastic picks, and any type of cheap and expensive picks imaginable, and I have never believed that a pick can have so much impact on the tone. But with Dunlop Gator Grip I have always realized that the tone is so pleasantly warm and full of depth. This pick will make your heavy riffs heavier and it will make your Jazz pieces subtler.

Dunlop Gator Grip 2.00 is really thick, and usually whenever I hand it to someone they are terrified by the thickness of it and refuse to play it. However, playing these picks for five years, I have never gone back to thinner picks. I did not find it particularly hard to get used to these picks, in fact the feel of the thickness was so pleasant and different from other picks that it made me love this pick during the first week. If you especially play really high-gauged strings, this pick will also offer you a great hang of your thick strings, but also on low-gauged strings you will notice a very splendid feeling and tone when hitting the strings.

These picks are extremely cheap, the price makes it a bargain, I definitely recommend these picks, just buy a package and try them out, you will not be disappointed. I have recommended these picks to many people over the years, and they have all loved it, although most of those people have opted for thinner variations of Dunlop Gator Grips (e.g. 1.5, etc.), nonetheless they have also fallen in love with these picks.

Excellent!!!

I really like the grip on this pick, it is firm and hard. This is perfect pick for more virtuoso playing (specially for alternate picking, circular picking and sweeps) and for hard rhythm work. And after hours and hours of playing, Gator is still on pick, he didn't run away :)

A
most durable pick I found
Anonymous 24.01.2017
I use These picks for all my guitar playing.
Even when playing on a steel string acoustic guitar.

- Clean sound (the pick itself makes no sound itself unlike some of the more flimsy variants)
- precise because it doesn't bend at all
- most durable pick I have come across
- overall good feel and grip

If you don't loose them, 12 of them will probably last for a couple of years. (even if using them every day for hours).

I have yet to find anything better for my needs.

DO
My current best "pick" ;))
D O N K 23.04.2021
A great grip is what made me stick with the Gator Grip and this variety is no exception. Although they do file away a tad quickly, this is more likely due to my picking style which is quite aggressive so I don't hold that to the pick, more just me abusing them

Best pick for "sweaty" environments
Falcon_guitar 11.04.2016
2.0 gauge might sound a bit too big or scary at the beginning but it?s the best gauge for Metal/Extreme metal, specially for riffs. Get your Chugga-chugga like never before.
Most of people buys an expensive guitar, strings, cable, amplifier but forgets that most of the powerful sound should come from your hands and picking with a 1.0mm will sound too "slow" or weak.
We also have to consider durability - When picking, specially on bpm?s above 220, we are creating a lot of friction that "eats" the pick in a matter of hours. When using a thin pick, that can be noticed in less than an hour. Also it?s good to mention that a think pick will produce a lot of unwanted squeaky sound because it doesn?t has round edges so the pick will get "stuck" on the strings and fast picking will become difficult.
The only down side of this model in particular is the dull sound produced when attacking the strings. It?s not so bright as the Delrin ones which I recommend for studio purposes, when we need to get 100% of our instrument and a sharp attack. Anyway, it?s not so noticeable that dull sound so it?s perfect for live concerts, lessons and practicing, giving you more control and avoiding your pick to slip on a stage.
If you want a hybrid pick for riffing and soloing, I?d suggest the 1.5mm.
