Don't need no other pick. Sharp and hard for a clean sound. Makes fast playing easier for your right hand.

j
snappy sound
jrakus 26.09.2020
I used to play Jazz III picks. Now I play these. In contrast to Jazz III these are thinner yet still stiff enough. They have a sharp point that is good for precision picking just like on the Jazz III. The sound is "snappy" and more vintage sounding than Jazz III. Vintage for me means more pick noise, louder pick sound, louder scrapping sound, more added noise overall. These don't sound clean and precise. This is exactly what I was looking for -a noisier pick.

The ink writing gets erased after a while. A bad thing is all Ultex picks are the same color. So if you have more sizes 0.73, 1.0, 1.14 you don't know which is which when the writing erases! Also they are hard to see when dropped beacause they are transparent.

Great !!!!

I have been searching for guitar picks with good grip and a point on them for easier transition between dynamics. These perfectly suit that and they're incredibly durable. I played a whole set the other night with a new pick and it looked the same after the hour-long torture as prior -- every other pick I've ever played with has become worn down after just an hour or two of playing and becomes a pain to play with after a few concerts; these are an absolute exception.Awesome picks, highly recommended for precise picking and full bright chords, plus good grip! Being translucent, they're kinda easy to misplace. And if you drop it on hardwood floors, forget it, it's gone. Still one of my favorite picks, though..All guitarists have their own particular taste for picks. These are the best one I've ever used! The material gives the attack a much more clear sound than other picks I've used.I LOVE these picks.

Little bit scratchy, but still good
antonl1911 09.04.2018
If you want a sharp pick, like Jazz III, but more traditionally sized, this one is for you. There is a certain scratchy sound when playing on lower strings, but it doesn't affects the guitar output. Pretty durable, although graphics seems to erase easily from the pick.
Perfect for metal & shredding.

Pro's:
- Durability (better than the Tortex line)
- Sound (more prominent attack than Tortex line, subjective)
- Grip (equal to Tortex line)
- To me, no pick pick beats this one in playability (attack, presence, accentuation)
Con's:
- Price?
- Sharp/raspy edges when used extensively
- Sharp tip wears off to quickly, rendering it to small

If the grip and durability would be improved even more, these would be my #1 choice for long session playing.

O
Good picks
OOJP 17.08.2019
The surface feels smooth, but they still grip well. The pick doesn’t really bend at all, so they have much more attack than other picks of this thickness. They might be a bit too much for playing acoustic guitar. The sharp end of the pick starts to round quite fast, but other than that these are quite durable.

Best sounding picks you can buy
wololo 15.02.2019
grip
These are completely plain and have no texture to them whatsoever so i reccomend scoring them with a knife OR buying these if you know you like plain picks.
I personally haven't had any issues with grip.

Sound
These are the best sounding picks i can find an i have tried everything.
They have a very natural sound that is brighter compared to most picks.

Playability
These are sharp pointed picks so you can be very accurate with them, they work incredibly well for rhythm playing and just as well for lead playing. 1mm is the optimum size for me.

Durability
These are not durable at all, meaning they wear out very fast, however i haven't found anything that sounds as good as these so i keep using them.

The rhino!
Anonymous 11.03.2014
The Dunlop Ultex Sharp Players Picks are my favorite guitar picks. For me (and also for a lot of other professional or non professional guitar players) this pick is the 'ultimate weapon'! The picks are sharp enough for some high speed picking but also good if you have to play some power chords! Also the grip is fantastic - you will never have any fear of loosing this pick. Trust me! The attack and tone that you get from these picks is brilliant, thick, crisp ... whatever you want! So, if you are looking for a first class guitar pick: don't look any further! Greater control, superb grip and tone, tone, tone! What else could a guitarist want!? ;)

I've been using those picks with two western guitars and one electric guitar for about two years now. I'm not hitting the strings very hard, but those picks give a nice, full sound with a lot of attack. After playing some of those picks for more than two years now, they're still in use for an average of one hour per day and I still don't see why I would need to get some new ones. Great durability.

Just like every other pick, it's a matter of taste whether you get along with them or not, though. So give them a try if you can.

Sharp tip combined with smooth material
Anonymous 27.05.2014
Dunlop's Ultex picks have a nice feel in them straight from the bag. I've found the 1.0 to be a suitable combination of flexibility and hardness for numerous playing styles, from acoustic strumming to aggressive punk picking style. The sharp tip gives the pick a nice attack, you can really feel the notes jump out of the strings. The Ultex material itself feels good in hand and has a nice, natural feeling grip in it.
