I switched my custom made microphone stand with this one. I needed something light and compact, that's why the 5000 and 9000 models were not an option. I use two small diaphragm condensers on a stereo bar in an ORTF position perpendicular to the line between the center of the snare and the point where the beater strikes the batter head of the bass drum. It' s a really specific position and I knew that the dw 3700 boom arm is not long enough to achieve that (the standart lenght of the dw boom arms is 45 cm). In the end I found nice spot over the snare, and both snare center and bass drum center are at the same distance from both mics. With full span length both the stand and the boom horizontal to the ground the stand become a bit unstable and shaky even holding only two light mics plus stereo bar, all of it is less than 200 gr. So think twice if you want to put some heavy cymbal high and with a full spaned length boom arm.

Should have bought these years ago. Used pearl black label stands for the last 6 years. These DW stand even make my Zildjian cymbals sound better. No metal on metal & the sound is amazing. Positioning any way you like. What a bargain for £68
