DW SM110 Direct Drive BD Beater

I played a regular DW beaters for years and always was looking for new solutions in terms of beater adaptivity. These work great as they come along with 3 type stroking heads which easily screw on the beater itself. Really like the 4 weights although I use all of them all the time. The small bag and the key sure come along as good way for keeping the extra parts you don't use

Pros:
Adjusting the beater to personal needs is really quick and easy. Complete set with small carrying bag is really a nice feature.

Cons:
Would like to see a metal height limiter instead of a simple rubber.

With three different beater surfaces and four weights, this is a highly customizable beater that you can fine tune to your preferences. The weights are a simple yet elegant design element and kudos to whomever came up with the system. Swapping the weights takes a minute, as does the beater surfaces. Very fast and easy to try different weights for the beater and different impact surfaces to adjust the feel and sound of the beater.

You essentially have five weight options, since you can also have no weights for ultra-light feel. If you are feeling super sensitive, you can swap the placement of the weights, but I suspect that's beyond most people's feet to notice a difference.

Cons:
- not the cheapest, but does the job of several different beaters, so the value is great

I bought a set just to try it. Turns out, I hit the jackpot. The adjustable beater weight allows you to have a light or a quite heavy beater, with options in between. Also, If you use one less weight on the slave side (in case of double pedals obviously), you almost balanced out the two sides. Only slight adjustments needed as not every shaft weighs the same. It has punch and the self-aligning beater makes sure that the head is always in full contact with the drumhead. The different beater-heads give us the option to tweak our sound a bit more. Only drawback is that it doesn't have a memory lock type of thing so we could use the beater every time the same way (height, angle, etc) I installed the old memory-thingy from my DW5000's beater, so wasn't a big problem for me. If other pedals give you this option too, thats great. Otherwise, some basic memory-clamp thing would be a nice addition. Despite this, HIGHLY-HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
