It's bulky and heavy. The tricky part is to find the right places for drilling the holes in the shell, and there are not that many pictures of dw drumsets with the rail mount from which you can see where it's exact positioning. But once you do this the mount has a lot of options itself. As I said it's bulky and if you want to customised to your sitting position such thing can be done because there's "excessive" material which you can cut down. For example if you sit low the arm is way long and on 22" bass drum the tom get's really high. So you have to unpin the upper aluminium part, and the tube can be cut exactly 33 mm. down from the top, so that only the bottom pins will be used. I had to cut the L-rod down too. The end result is absolutely compact and unobtrusive.
