The EQD Avalanche run is not a typical delay pedal, it's a mix of a delay and reverb, but it's none of them at the same time.
I had a hard time finding more uses for this outside of ambient and drones, but EQD pedals are not knows are your grand dad's effects pedal, that's what companies like Boss and TC electronic are for.
The avalanche run has three main mods, normal (literally), swell (magic), and reverse (the weird but great!).
The pedal like all of EQD is true bypass, so I didn't find any impact on my overall sound, and pairing it with a reverb (in my case the Afterneath V2) creates sounds that you didn't even know existed.
But this pedal is not for everyone, if you just need a classic digital delay, just get a flashback 2 for a third of the price.
The Avalanche run is for ambient and drones.
Why buy it?
-You like ambient sounds and drones
-You like to experiment and sound huge
Why not?
A few problems with the pedal are the fact that to get the most out of it, you do need an expression pedal, you don't have to, but it is recommended.
Another unfortunate problem I've encountered with my unite, is the fact that it's a bit of a snob when it comes to power, as it tried to kill my ears when I powered it with my cheap Chinese power brick that powered the rest of my pedals with no effort or problem, and this pedal as most EQD pedals does not have a battery option, so you have to stick to a single adapter or a more expensive PSU.
Not your grand dad's delay pedal.
