Nice sounding strings
skudra 13.08.2017
I was sceptical at first about all the fuss that was going on about these strings but thought about giving them a try. I am very satisfied and returned to them again.

At first they feel a little bit slippery and have that trebly metallic new string sound like any other new strings but of course it goes away after few weeks or days(depends on how much you play)and it stays with a very nice punchy and bright sound for a long time. I took the last ones off after playing them for one and a half year. They actually still sounded pretty good but the coating was starting to come off and they did not feel so good to play anymore.

I don't think that there is something "out of this world" about them sound-wise - they have a pretty typical roundwound string sound(after they are broken in) only with less sliding noise but the the main point is that they last longer in their fresh state and it is definitely worth it to pay more for that.

Using these for years now....
Cees Case 26.03.2022
They are costly but in my opinion they are worth it. I have been using Elixirs 45-105 for years now on my 6 basses and have tested some others (Daddario, Fender) in between but always returned to these Elixirs. They sound great, they are stable (don't change sound after 3 or 4 gigs) and they last. No I am not endorsed, after dozens of sets of Elixirs it was about time to write this review.

Une référence.

Même si je n'utilise plus que des D'addario NYXL, les elixir restent dans mon top 3. Son et durabilité au top. On ne peut pas se tromper avec ce set.

Right out of the box they sound just like new uncoated strings, they have that zingy sound.

After 1 week they unfortunately lose the zing a bit but even after half a year they still don't sound "dead" like uncoated strings do. They still have lots of harmonics and sound nice and bright, just no zing.

Some people actually don't like zing so these strings would be perfect for them. I personally like zing, but I still think these strings are worth it as they will never go completely dead. I've been using the same strings for 6 months and don't plan on changing them.

Son standard et rond, cordes ultra-résistantes à la durée (ont tenu 2 ans sur ma basse à un usage régulier, capables de probablement plus si bon entretient)

These strings will be bright for months!
Kyuuga 13.12.2018
Elixir truly employs some craftsmanship in their strings, especially in these Nanowebs. They keep their brightness on for months even if you don't regularly clean them up. I have no idea how they do it but the coating on these strings is spectacular.

Their tone isn't the best in my personal opinion but you can't always get what you want. It's still pretty good and they'll sound amazing and just like any other roundwound strings in a mix or playing with others.

The feel is also pretty good, a bit silky but I personally like it.

All in all, the best strings to get if you're looking to get a product that will last you for months while keeping their "zing". The price is very justified.

I'll never go back.

Someone told be about elixir strings and the soft feel they offered.
I had just mounted a set of new strings that felt like it was eating my fingers, making me quite unhappy with that choice, so i decided to give the Elixirs a try.

The feel is not like a tapewound or or flatwound string, it's still a roundwound, only softer. You get less sliding noise and your plucking hand's calluses aren't eaten up that fast. I love that.

The sound can not compare with a superfresh set of normal strings, they lack a little of the harsh brightness that i use to filter out by dialing back on the highs until the strings are broken in. You could say they sound like a set of strings that are about two weeks old (if you're not a super heavy player with more than an hour playtime a day) straight out of the box.
And that sound is kept for a really long period of time. I'd say elixirs last at least twice as long as normal roundwounds.
I like a string best when it's well broken in and has had about 2/3 of its lifespan spent on the bass and elixirs stay like that forever (after about 18 months the coating comes off and the strings look fuzzy, that's the signal to change them for me).

The best strings I've ever used.
James_G 30.12.2019
I'm fussy with strings. I don't like them to feel too grippy and rough, I like them bright, but not too bright, I like them to last a long time.
Elixir meets all of those parameters every time.
I've never had a bad string from them.

Best rounds
charles the bassist 27.10.2020
These are just the best roundwounds on the market.
I've played daddario, Ernie Ball slinky's, DRs, rotosound, ...
In terms of feel & sound they're just untouchable to me.
Strings are a personal thing, and it's a subjective matter.
But one objective thing is the lifespan:
Professional players or bassists that play daily will benefit from these.
For me, they keep a good and snappy and lively sound for 6 months.
And also, after 6 months they still sound good, just less snap and treble.

Uncoated strings last 2 months maximum, feel sticky and loose all the tone after a while...
