Great metal chuggers

The pickups have that classic metal/ hard rock tonality we are used to hearing from Zakk, but also bands like Metallica. Impressive is also the packaging/ presentation, almost apple like. Installation is also very easy with the solderless kit, however i have a panel mount type output jack and a weird 3 way selector switch which meants some soldering was still needed. However installation was still a breeze.

i was fitting this kit into an epiphone sg-g400....the cavity is much smaller than a les paul guitar,i found the fitment very straightforward--only to find that there was not room in cavity for 9v battery!....with the pots being long shaft type...i maybe could have pushed them through the holes further--but i did not want the control knobs to be sticking out 1/2 inch!.....so i extended the two wires to the battery,then routed out a slot underneath the pickguard,where the battery now sits,out of site.everything works perfectly,--very pleased with the performance of pickups,emg say that the battery should be changed every twelve months--so it's just a case of removing pickguard--no hassle!.....thanks!

The easiest way to get a professional and contemperary Metal sound!
Totally useless for retro styles and clean sounds, except those clean sounds that appears in the genres of Metal, usually with plenty of chorus effect.

The manual for mounting the system could be easier, but EMG has a great YouTube-video for that!

Good active pickups, easy to install, but 1 of the tone knobs broke after a while and there is no spare parts available as far as I know.

I bought these for my friend.
They are good and you get fat and professional sound but it is a little bit harder to get some clarity. For faster playing on clean sound I would not recommend them. For slower clean tunes they are good. P.S. one of pickups came damaged to me and we report that to Thomann. Company was really nice and professional in that matter!

Probably not the best pick up on the market, but if you need some high output pickups for high gain purposes or recording these babies will do the job.

Furthermore they are really easy to install and the value for money is outstanding!

Ideal if you are a Zakk fan or if you want to upgrade the electronics on a cheap guitar.
