A solid case with some issues
oscillator8 31.05.2021
I upgraded to this Erica Synths case from the Arturia Rackbrute 6u case because I needed the extra space for modules and wanted the ability to close the case while the modules are still patched. On both accounts it performs beautifully with 2 rows of 104hp and a spacious lid that seals tightly and has plenty of room for patch cable spaghetti.

I wasn't really interested in going the 7u case route and buying a load of proprietary 1u modules so I chose this over the Intellijel offerings. I also considered the The Make Noise case.

There is more than enough power for any configuration and the power connectors are placed to be accessible on both of the 3u rows making it extremely flexible for adding and removing modules without too much disruption to other modules.

It's solidly built and being aluminum, it's nice and light. perfect for gigging or bringing to jam sessions.

There are 2 issues that I can live with but are a little annoying for a case of this price.

1. The spray paint finish isn't finished inside the case. It looks like they ran out of paint once they had done the outside and the black finish fades unevenly to raw grey aluminum inside. This can be seen in the product photos, although it's not that obvious until you see the case in person. I assume it's a conscious decision to leave it rough and ready. Not a problem on the module side of the case when you fill it up, however it makes the inside of the lid look like a bad DIY job.

2. The power switch and power adapter input are on the bottom of the case. If you're traveling and holding the case by the handle, and you go to place it on the floor / ground / surface, the power switch and power input will be facing the ground. Placing them at the top or side of the case would have seemed more sensible to me.

Those two issues aside, I feel this case will last a long time and offers excellent protection for my modules.
