The oil filled skin can contribute to a very low boom. you can make a full classic boom or a modern groove and both sounds great. I tend to cranck it up a bit and use my second pedal to dampen it where its needed in the song. Sounds great too. I'm very content,

I tried this head for a couple of months but eventually went back to Evans Emad2. I think it sounds better for my use.
