Fender AM Perf Tele RW HBST Electric Guitar

The Telecaster is inextricably woven into the history of Rock music, and Fender is keeping this spirit well and truly alive with the American Performer Telecaster RW HBST. This guitar is built at Fender USA's main plant in Corona, California and combines all of the hallmarks of a "genuine" Tele, including an alder body, a slim-taper maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, and most importantly of all, a set of Yosemite pickups. These have been designed specifically for the American Performer series and feature coils that have been specially "potted" to suppress unwanted noise even at high gain levels and make this an extremely versatile guitar that will suit a variety of musical styles. The American Performer Telecaster RW HBST comes in an appealing "Honey Burst" finish, and the scope of delivery also includes a sturdy gig bag to allow the guitar to be transported safely.

The legendary Tele sound

The Telecaster has a long-standing reputation as a "guitarists' guitar", known for its outstanding playability and equally at home in Country, Blues, and Rock. Players can expect nothing less from the American Performer Telecaster RW HBST, which is optimally equipped to uphold the Tele's reputation with its comfortable maple neck and rosewood fingerboard complete with 22 jumbo frets. Despite the old adage of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", some tweaks are still worth making, and that is why this guitar features Fender's new "Greasebucket" tone circuit, which keeps the signal from the two Yosemite pickups punchy and dynamic even when the treble is rolled off via the tone control. And the authentic Tele look would not be complete without the classic "ashtray"-style bridge, which also adds an extra portion of "twang" to the sound. And last but not least, the headstock is adorned with six ClassicGear machine heads that ensure reliable tuning at all times.

An affordable "Made In USA" Tele

Despite the fact that it is made at Fender's main factory in Corona, California, the American Performer Telecaster comes at a very attractive price - which makes this guitar in its eyecatching Honey Burst finish particularly interesting for guitarists who are looking for a Tele that will deliver outstanding quality and uncompromising reliability but who don't have a fortune to spend on it. These players should be just as delighted by the comfortable modern C-shape neck as by the Yosemite pickups with their modernised Greasebucket circuit, with which they can unleash everything from crystalline cleans to overdriven sounds. Whatever sound they favour, however, guitarists can always be sure of the punch, presence, and massive headroom with which Telecasters are synonymous.

About Fender

Fender is without doubt one of the most legendary guitar and amplifier manufacturers of all time. The company was founded in 1946 by its namesake Leo Fender († 1991), whose innovative ideas brought a breath of fresh air into the musical world. His Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass are not only classics – they also continue to shape the styles of musicians in countless genres to this day. Timeless Fender amplifier models such as the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton also enjoy a stellar reputation. Besides maintaining its classic product portfolio, however, the company is also constantly developing new products that make Fender a driving force in today’s music industry.

As flexible as they come

In addition to the solid woods used for the neck and body, the American Performer Telecaster RW HBST's sound is enhanced to new levels by its Yosemite pickups and Greasebucket tone circuit. This combination of low-noise pickups and an effective tone control puts an extensive sonic palette at the player's disposal, which ranges from shimmering clean tones through to dynamic crunch and even full-on overdrive. And when combined with a high-quality tube amplifier that can deliver every nuance of its sound straight to the listener's ears, this guitar is absolutely in its element: Perfect for the studio, rehearsal room, stage, and everywhere else that the Fender Telecaster has made itself at home!

Really happy with this guitar. It arived well set-up straight out the box with no issues at all- I just had to tune it up.
I have just been using the supplied gauge 9 string set, and the action is just fine for me- though adjustments might be needed if much heavier strings are put on it, but this is normal for any guitar.
The build quality is great, and I can not find fault with the one I got.
Arived well packaged and on time.
The one thing to note is that it has fender type jumbo frets, they might not suit everyone. The frets are not massive. like you might get on a shredding type guitar, but something to keep in mind.. You can always try playing one before you buy. I found I got used to them in a few days. Must also say that the guitar is really 'easy' to play chords on and not much pressure is needed to fret the notes.

Great Guitar - quick delivery. Arrived in perfect condition and well set-up. Very good sound.

Gig bag is very basic, but does the job.

Would be nice if Fender included components like strap, but just a minor observation.

Totally blown away by the sound and quality of this beast. No hard case, so buy a nice Fender one. Superb! You may as well get the bridge cover too. I like it a lot.
Usual 5 star service and customer support from Thomann and UPS.
