The Fender CD-60 BK was my first steel-string acoustic that I bought after having only played classical guitar. Not being entirely sure what to purchase, I got this one due to the cheaper price and generally positive reviews.
After 2 years or so, I still play on this regularly and I think it's an excellent dreadnought type of guitar for beginners. The CD-60 looks very slick in black (although it's easy to leave fingerprints) and is very appealing. I always enjoyed the laminated texture although opinions may vary in this regard.
As far as the work goes, this guitar produces a very loud and bright sound. It plays quite well but after having played other steel string guitars, I notice that it's not necessarily the best guitar in terms of handling. However, the lower price tag makes this honestly a very good guitar. I brought this guitar to many places and played outside and inside and it still looks brand new. It is seriously impressive how robust this guitar is.
The biggest downside for me were the strings which came with the guitar. They sounded extremely "tinny" and lacked a brighter sound. I pretty much changed them on the fly with some higher quality ones which made the sound much better.
Overall, I really recommend this guitar for anyone who wants to dabble into playing acoustic steel-string guitars. It is a solid choice and very sturdy as well. It looks great and gets the job done.
