Great for a new telecaster possition!
Honza H. 27.11.2019
I installed this switch with my new Bare Knuckle Blackguard Tele Flat'50 Set into 2016 USA G&L ASAT Classic deluxe to make use of both pickups in series as a humbucker and after a day of soldering, since I'm not very experienced with an iron, I was astonished to first hear the new sound. The 4th possition added a whole new sound, making my tele into a jazz machine and switchable for mellow lead tones.

The switch doesnt feel as sturdy as a G&L 3-way made in US, but it works, so I have no complains.

To conduct, it is a nobrainer since you can add your tele humbucking option just for 25 euros.

FENDER 4 WAY SWITCH
ErikCro777 04.02.2023
Well i've seen everybody were talking about the 4 way switch on a Telecaster.
So the next day i bought the Squier Telecaster 40 anniverasy in sheerwood green and the Fender 4 way switch.
The scheme it comes with is really easy to understand, the switch feel robust and it doesnt hum or anything..
If you know how to solder and you have a Tele i would suggest you to buy the Fender 4 way switch and play the hell out of it..
THANKS Fender and Thomann

Very good quality

Fender Telebration gained a new live with this 4-way switch.
It has now the standard 3 sounds plus an additional one that is composed by the mix of both pickups in series.
The change is very easy, because it's supplied the schematic and nothing more needs to be changed than the switch itself.
My guitar gained a new very nice sound on the first position, that is very close to an humbucker. By the way, it has the bonus to cancel the hum (has an humbucker does) on this position.
It is top quality, it's a genuine Fender product.

Fender 4 Way Tele Switch

Brilliant ! An extra sound with traditional pickups. The construction is in the traditional wafer switch style, but using modern materials - Fabric based Fibreglass (Like a high quality PCB), so better electrical spec. Contacts are silver plated spring wiping. Appropriate screws are provided because so many different threads are in use now. A pictorial wiring diagram is included in the pack, so ok if you're not an amp/electronics tech. You do need to solder it reliably though. Diagram part no. 099-2250-199.
Update: Too Close For Comfort! - After fitting this and using it for a week or so, it is rather uncomfortably close to the volume control. This makes it a bit fiddly with the 4 positions. The answer has already been provided by product 283681 ABM 7811c Tele Control Plate. This is specifically designed to provide more space between the switch and volume control. Someone else has already been through this before! Get the control plate upgrade with the switch! - Well worth the few extra quid!

Telecaster Essential

If you've got a tele then you need one of these. You probably didn't even know your guitar was missing the sound this provides but when you install one of these you'll wonder how you ever lived without it before. Positions one to three work as normal but position four puts both pickups in series (essentially adding them both together) as opposed to in parallel which position two does. This essentially like creating a big humbucker to your tele.If you've ever wondered how Brian May achieves such a thick sound using single coils, it's that he has a thomann switch to put them in series. There is a bit of a jump in volume too.
I find myself using this like a solo position. I use the regular switch positions for rhythm and flick to position 4 for a solo.

Great for replacement or mods
Jonwbd 06.03.2022
I used mine to give my Telecaster series and parallel switching options, an inexpensive way to get another sound option out of your guitar.

The switch fit my control plate perfectly and I didn’t have to do any routing to the cavity. It’s not too loose or too tight when switching from one position to another.

Look online for wiring diagrams, there’s loads you can do with a 4-way switch.

A
all you need to make a perfect tele
Anonymous 17.09.2015
All Tele's should have this switch.

There is one thing that might be causing some problems:
The lever on this switch has a bigger travel than a stock 3-way switch.
So it is possible that the slot in the controleplate is not long enough, so you might need a file to make it a little bigger.
Otherwise the 1st or 4th position might not work like they should.

A
4-way Tele Switch
Anonymous 07.03.2014
A 4-way Tele Switch for my old No-name Telecaster ? My first Guitar was a Fenix Telecaster and I wanted to improve it. So I bought every Hardware I could get from Fender. So I bought Fender Noiseless Pickups and then I found that 4-Way Switch I didn't know. I thought 4-Way is better than 3-Way and so I bought it too. But I never converted a guitar myself and so I had any troubles, especially soldering the switch on the pickups. I had one plan for the switch and one for the pickups and they didn't match. So one cable always remained. So I just soldered it on the tone knob and luckily it worked. The first position brings a very warm tone, the second is a mix of neck and bridge position and the fourth is the best, it is a serial mix of the two pickups with more output and a perfect humbucker sound. So you can play funky riffs and bluesy Tele-Singlecoil riffs or you choose the louder Humbucker sound for any Rock or Hard-Rock Riffs.

Perfect upgrade
Crancher 24.08.2019
The 4 way switch is a perfect upgrade for hot teles and not only. Gives you an extra sound for not that much money and time. The switch itself is high quality, had no problems with it.

the open secret?
Eric4135 14.04.2014
The cheapest, reversible upgrade available for a telecaster, is to put one of these four way switches into the control cavity- giving you the option of both pickups in series or parallel.
Teles are renowned (amongst other things) for their simplicity- but isn't it worth a few euros and twenty minutes with the soldering iron, to find out if this mod adds useable value to your instrument?
