Less is more :)

This is soo cute. Very small but large souding. When I opened the box I shocked in terms of its dimensions. You can take it to everywhere in a bag with you.
As its features;
It is just a stereo levelling amplifier and it has every features (including side chain inserts ). Only two things made me bore: First it has a wallwart. And second ( for me this is important) it has no power switch. These two things equal to two stars from features, so I gave it three stars.
As its sound;
Superb. I've recorded a bass guitar. And the result is just the same what it was written in its owner's manual:"Gooey and thick". Very close to a professional sound. And for the price the result is, for me, just pro.
As its quality;
Very nice. Noone denies the quality of its chasis and knobs. It is really small but its quality is big.
For this price, don't think twice. But put this 'small piece' at a seenable place in your studio or you can lose it :)

A really nice leveling amplifier indeed
Anonymous 29.01.2016
I was searching for a polyvalent compressor that I could use on several instruments (both stereo and mono) and after some weeks of researching I decided buying the FMR Audio RNLA 7239.

The best description for this analog piece is that it thickens the sound, giving a nice vintage type of feel to the tracks.

Something cool about this compressor is that the RNLA is one of the few effects devices that uses input TRS jacks wired as "in/outs" allowing the use of a single TRS cable for both connections input jacks are bi-directional). Almost all other require a conventional, separate input and output cable set-up. If you plug the compressor to AUX though, you should use four plain unbalanced TS cables.

This item also has a very useful button called "Long Release" that specifically creates a envelope that helps not crushing the sound transients keeping their "body", while using longer releases. I use this feature very often, especially for drum bus and bass.

At the end this is a very character driven compressor that gives a nice vintage style sound to your tunes, not damaging the essence of your tracks.

An nice affordable limiter, though a little coloured
Francis524 16.05.2013
Like the FMR RNC, this is another small, affordable, easy to use compressor. Unlike the RNC it is a lot less transparent, and you won't find yourself using it on every track. However, it has a character of its own, and I find works well on drums and bass synths/guitars.

I record a lot of electronic music with "clean" sounding drum samples, and running the whole drum buss, or sometimes individual drum or hi-hat channels through the RNLA really adds some nice colour to the outputs. Or, if you really slam the levels it can dirty things up nicely. Useful for your arsenal.

P
great little colored compressor
PeaKock 13.07.2021
if you're looking for a great compressor that adds character to your source, and you don't want to break the bank.... the RNLA is probably your best option.
it really has a noticeable color, so obviously it doesn't fit everything, but when it does, it sounds amazing.
one "con" I would mention is the knobs feel cheap, and in some positions they are harder to turn. other than that best bang for your buck

Great for sound colouring and portability
The Greek Samurai 17.05.2024
I bought this to compress and level out the main outputs of my DAWless gig setup and it works as I expected. Adds colour and loudness without it being too transparent. The only downside is the little plastic tubes that make the LEDs from the pcb light in the front panel. Those are loosely glued to the front panel with just some superglue and if presses inside even slightly they disconnect and fall inside the unit. This is an easy fix with some superglue but keep in mind that the superglue can drip through the holes unto the front panel and stain it!

K
Drum buss Compressor
Konstadinos 11.11.2022
I use it with Dfam and Leploop Multicassa(external input) running through a Jomox Resonator and then to RNLA. The compressor does a good job on emphasizing the transients and helps sound cut through the mix.

Really Nice Levelling Amplifier'
Anonymous 03.01.2015
This is a great little compressor, especially if you consider the price.
I've used it on most everything so far and it does the job really well.
I particularly like it on bass, vocals and acoustic guitar.
It's not really transparent, but that was the whole point for me, so I've been really happy with it.
