Compact and well made bag but too cramped for a large bass trombone
bassbon 07.01.2018
The bag is very compact for a bass trombone gigbag and looks good on first sigth. The Cordura outer finish looks sturdy and well made, the zippers feel sturdy close easily, and the hand grips and shoulder strap are riveted as wel as stiched for a good joining. The shoulder strap can also be used as back pack straps, which I find very convenient. Especially in the back pack mode, the bag feels very stable.

On the inside, the bag is provided with the patented Gard Mid-bag Suspension System, a separate slide compartment, and two separate zipper pouches, which can be attached to the inner side of the bag by velcro. Gard does not list a maximum bell diameter for this bag but with some effort, my 10,5'' bell fits within the bag, albeit very snugly. Additionally, the mid-bag suspension system also impedes fitting the bell in the bag and only just allows for the slide compartment to be fitted within the bag alongside the bell. Beside the bell and the slide, alsmost no space is left for the pouches and closing the bag takes some effort.

In summary, Gard provides a well made bag which, unfortunately, is too tight to my taste.
