Best bang for buck power supply
Angelito 07.09.2017
As the title says, I believe this is definitely the best bang for buck power supply you can get with 8+ connectors on it, without spending a lot of money on other better known brands.

Expanding on that though, the power supply comes with all the leads you could possibly need (with the exception of a UK power lead, although these are easily found), build quality to rival any bigger brand and it's so small it can fit under pretty much any pedal board, mine being a Pedaltrain Junior board.

This is kind of a long term review as well as I have had this power supply for over a year now and even leaving my pedal board in the boot of my car in the winter and using it as the only power supply for all my pedals, which I use every time I practice or play, this being a few times a week for extended hours this power supply has not died or degraded in any way. In fact my board has been knocked around so much I've had to remount my pedals several times but through low temperatures, knocks and even testing dead pedals it has soldiered on flawlessly whereas my previous cheap Amazon ones are all dead.

So in conclusion, if you are looking to connect around 8+ pedals, or more than 5 really, then this is a great option that I would highly recommend, it will not let you down (at least it hasn't let me down), it is solidly built, has higher voltage outputs (I haven't used however) and comes in cheaper than many power supplies with less outputs and I trust it with some very expensive pedals and it has never let me down or broken anything and the leads themselves are also pretty common to find should any ever break, although like I said mine is still like new.

Would highly recommend this product.

Ok, if you?re not pushing it
Jevatro 08.03.2018
I have owned this pedal power unit for a couple of years now. It was ok at the beginning, when it didn?t have to power a lot of pedals, and they were all simple 100mA boss-like pedals. After a while, the pedal collection grew, and some of them were replaced by more demanding ones like strymons.

That?s where the GBus8 starts to stagger. A very nasty noise/hum appeared every time I played. At this time, also the power cord, the ones that?s permanently attached to the power unit, started to come off. I had to secure it with duct tape from showing bare wire.

Ultimately, I upgraded the Gbus8 to a pedal power with isolated outputs, and now I?m hum-free!

Conclusion: the Gbus8 is ok as long as you don?t push it and don?t touch it. If you want to power high demand pedals and are on the road a lot, buy something else.

Noise control
nodrog2008 27.09.2017
There is something to be said about isolating electrical components from each other especially in different locations in the world. Not all power sources are the same. I like to use lots of effects when I'm being creative but they all produce a certain amount of noise. This can be annoying and frustrating playing live and in the studio. The gator G bus is the best product to trust at this price point.
I've been using it for a while now and it does the job amazingly well. Highly recommended.

where else will you get such a product??
John773 17.06.2013
local music shops in london and brighton all gave me wrong advice ..'oh yes, you can run a 18v chorus pedal on a 9v adaptor'..hmm, only if you make it sound awful !..they couldnt even order a suitable adaptor, but one call to thomann, and three days later, my pedal board is now perfect!
the adaptor itself is prety well bombproof.. black, cast steel, rugged outputs for lots of BOTH 9v and 18v pedals(DO please try to get all 9v pedals, it does make life easier!!)
the only minor grumble i might make is that the lead that goes from the(separate) 240v power adaptor into the steel gator unit is rather flimsy, i can imagine my great sausage- like hands breaking it very easily! (gator, please note,!)
i will try to replace it eventually if possible.
the gator G bus 8 has allowed me to get a nice neat case for my four pedals(tuner, chorus, overdrive and reverb) without having to mess about with batteries, little boxes, plugging in everything every time i want to use it.. its great ! i'd thoroughly recommend it.
it arrived promptly, and very well packaged in a stout box and enough bubblewrap to package ME..
it was prced significantly lower than local shops offered it at-but they couldnt get it anyway!!
well done Thomann!

Quality power in a slightly less qualilty box
Antti A. 17.08.2014
Despite of non-isolated outputs this is a very good power supply. No noise, makes power supply sensitive pedals better... The size is compact enough for pedalboard use. 18V outputs give more versatility with boosters, delays and such

My only complaints go to the design of the plugs and sockets. If the power supply is placed on a flat surface the angled plugs must be turned to such angle that there is no space to keep them all aligned same way. Also the plugs slip out very easily so I had to secure them with tape...

Anyway, for the price very good purchase.

Gator G-BUS-8

Nice and compact size and a good product for the price! My only concern is that the connectors that connect to the unit are 3.5mm jack plugs and fall out easily but once it was mounted on my pedalboard it's all nice and secure.

Broke on first use
comaunite 25.01.2017
The AC/DC adapter for this broke upon first use. Had to take it to the repairs. Cost me some 10 bucks extra, but I couldn't wait another month to get everything back on track. Though Thomann still sent me a replacer without having to mail back the old one - so, thank you Thomann!
I've also read of other stories about the quality of this product not being top notch, but our bass player is using this one and it seemed best for me in the price range I was willing to pay. The bass player hasn't had any problems with it within around 9 months of usage.

Other than that, it has 9 ports for 9v and 3 for 18v (only one cord for 18v port is included tho). So from this standpoint it's a pretty decent thing to have if you need to power a bunch of pedals. It's also supposed to be fail safe and should not fry your pedals upon malfunction.

Too much noise...
Sorcha 07.08.2018
For one pedal, it is ok... anything else and you really are pushing it. The noise and hum are not of for either recording or gigging. It's nearly the same quality as daisy chaining. I would not recommend this product! I upgraded to a more expensive Voodoo Lab Mondo due to two newly acquired Strymon Pedals. Worth the cost IMO! If you are building a bigger board or need a clean sound, consider an alternative.

A comprehensive power solution for disparate pedal types.
Stephen7400 02.09.2015
I bought this power distribution unit to serve a multiplicity of pedals I had acquired over the years. Rather than mess about with batteries I decided to wire them all up to a single mains driven supply. As one of the units required an 18 volt supply I was immediately drawn to the Gator G-BUS-8 as it supports both 9v and 18 volt outputs. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised by how compact the unit was, so that it would take minimal space in my rig. It also appeared both rugged yet light in a perfectly designed aluminum case. The third thing that impressed me was how many connectors there were as there are certainly enough of different types to service any effects pedal in existence. An all round good solution for those with a diverse range of pedals needing a central power supply.

If you need 9v and 18v power this is an great choice
Feghead 30.01.2015
with 3 x 18v @ 350ma and 8 x 9v@ 250, this is a very good option if you use pigtronix and mxr 18 volt pedals along with the standard 9 volt fare.

It is supplied with 8 cables for the 9 volt female sockets, but strangely only 1 cable for the 18 volt male sockets, so make sure to get other cables if you need to use more than one 18 volt output - I ordered the T-Rex cables as they came in the lengths I wanted.

Nice and small and noiseless; priced very well and although there are cheaper options out there they can be a bit hit and miss.
