Ideal for ALL types of finish.
Anonymous 27.02.2015
I own several guitars in a variety of finishes and was keen to see if there was a polish suitable for ALL types of topcoat. Having done my research, I was wary of using polishes containing silicone (as found in many ordinary household furniture polishes) as it can affect nitro/acrylic topcoats and can cause difficulties should you need to refinish a guitar in later years.

I found the Gibson brand was well recommended and suitable for my needs and decided to order. You get quite a large bottle for your money (118ml) and has quite a pleasant smell when spraying onto a cloth before applying to your finish. The smell only lingers for 20mins or so.

It does polish to a good natural shine ? I would not say a high gloss finish, but ?clean? looking (It does not leave any residue or stickiness and so is suitable for applying to necks). The bottle also claims ?the polish adds a trace amount of lacquer to help replenish and seal your instruments finish... Also can be applied to metal components without fear of damage.?

I use this on several types of finish (nitrocellulose, acrylic and polyurethane) and am pleased with the results.

Easy to use and great results.

Used on three different guitars. Poly and nitro finishes.
Easy to apply.
Cleans and buffs to a perfect shine.
Long lasting as only a couple of sprays on a cloth does the job.
Does not leave smudges or smears as some other products can.
Good value and quality.
Highly recommended.

Does the job flawlessly

I've seen that many people gave this product great reviews, so I thought why not? I will go by that and include this into my basket.
First of all, this thing smells really nice, similar to orange peel. It acts both as a cleaner and a light polish, which it makes it fit for acoustics with light nitro finishes, as well as electrics with heavy finishes. After applying, also covers up light scratches and leaves no smears on the guitar, but a clean, light polish that isn't excessive or gross.
I like the fact that it was also among the cheapest guitar cleaners/polishes so for the price I don't think you'll find anything better.

Fantastic product.

Gibson Pump Polish is the only guitar polish I've used because I've never felt the need to try another brand. It works well, smells nice and a bottle will last years.
I have instruments with both nitro and poly finishes and this polish works well on both of them. I try not to polish any guitar more than is necessary but it's nice to keep things looking and playing their best. It'll even get rid of or at least minimise small scratches and blemishes.
Use a soft cotton cloth. spray a small amount on the guitar and spread/apply evenly with the cloth. Let it partially dry for a couple of minutes and then polish to a shine with a clean cotton cloth. Simple, quick and effective.
I've never tried it on a satin finished guitar so I can't say whether that would be advisable or not, but anything with a gloss finish and it will work wonders.

Yep it's polish
Tom5055 28.07.2016
Does the job worderfull:
Spray it on, take the dirt away with a cloth,
Repeat if needed, polish with a soft cloth
And voila, like new.
Works best on finished parts and fretboard.
Oil your fretboard afterwards with some light lemon oil and your good to go.
The only disadvantage of the spray is.... that you have to do the rubbing ?

Best out there.

I only use polish for restoration jobs and this is the best final stage product I've found, great to finish up with after more "industrial" compounds...gives a really fine finish when hand rubbed and its pleasant but not overpowering scent gets rid of the more chemical smell left from previous stages.
A little goes a long way too,its great value for money.

Why use anything else?
Anonymous 03.06.2015
I've used this polish for many years and wouldn't put anything else on a guitar finish.

Gibson Pump polish is safe on all finishes, so is the ideal choice for delicate nitrocellulose lacquer. It cleans well, removing almost anything although a bit of naphtha (lighter fluid) is still needed for marks such as label residue.

I polish almost every guitar that comes across my bench with this so that I can hand back guitars to my customers that are as clean and shiny as they can be. Even cleaning several guitars a day, a bottle still seems to last a long time so I find it pretty economical too.
