this is one of the best PU ever! for this quality it might well cost twice the price! jazz, blues, hard rock, rock/blues, cleans... I installed it on solid (cabronita), semi-hollow and archtop guitars alike. it is ALWAYS a winner!

Affordable way to get that Filtertron sound
Jani_L 17.03.2024
I bought this to modify my Squier 70's Thinline Telecaster that has Widerange Humbuckers as stock.
Fits nicely on the guitars humbucker slot.
Powerfull sound volume on full, that sweetens nicely when turning volume and tone down a bit.
Works like humbuckers so these are hum cancelling and fairly silent even with high levels of gain.
Only small annoyance was there is nothing else but pickup in a plastic wrap when you buy this product. So no screws, foam or installation instructions included.
Successfully mounting this pickup you need to be able to drill four pilot holes to your guitar in correct places and get stuff like Göldo foam rubber to place underneath pickup, Gretsch wood screws and replacement 3rd party pickguard that has filtertron or tvjones sized slots.
If you little bit of experience in doing it your self and want to have a filtertron sounds out of your guitar that has humbucker sized slots, i can recommend this pickup.

Awesome Filtertron sound!
SachaS 04.02.2015
I put this into a partscaster thinline cabronita which I built which sounds incredible open with this humbucker. More open than blacktops but not as punchy. Perfect for a thinline guitar!
I'm very impressed especially for the price. I can't see how TV Jones could be any better and they are a lot more money. These filtertrons are very articulate and probably sit closer to P90s than PAF style humbuckers. They really sparkle which isn't something you can say for PAFs.
With gain they are really raunchy and produce a lot of pinch harmonics with ease and little gain. AC/DC riffs just roll out of these pickups! I certainly won't be changing them anytime soon, they will be staying in my cabronita for good.
Highly recommended.
PS this review relates to a pair of these (bridge and neck)

La Cabronita Build
Anonymous 29.06.2015
I bought a pair of these for a two pickup La Cabronita build. I had a lot of trouble finding pickups for this that didn't involve shipping from the US to the UK, which can be expensive.
After reading some reviews comparing the Gretsch to the TV Jones, I was luck enough to get to try the two brands side by side with the help of some friends who have done their own builds. To me, the Gretsch are the better of the two.
The neck pickup is smooth and very usable and still has some of that chime and twang to it. they are very responsive and less harsh and microphonic than the TV Jones. They sound great clean and even better when you give them some drive. overall I'm very happy with these and will definitely use them on my next La Cabronita build!!
Installation was easy as the body I had was a proper La Cabronita body with the correct size pickup holes.

Very well balanced
glasscranker 24.09.2022
Bought this to complement an HS Filtertron already in the bridge of my Gretsch, and unsurprisingly the two complement each other perfectly. The neck position is surprisingly warm, and with the tone rolled off would make a lovely jazz pickup, but opened up there’s a beautiful clarity without being harsh at all. Well defined highs and lows.
The metal ears are a pain if you have a more modern Gretsch, but can be trimmed off with care!

Game Changing Sound
Ozkar 11.08.2024
I installed a set of Gretsch filtration pickups into to my Gretsch Streamliner guitar. They totally changed the sound of my guitar. These pickups sound great and they are well worth the purchase. They are just the thing for everyone who loves that bright, glassy Gretsch Sound.
