Great Idea, Works Well
Anonymous 12.02.2017
Sometimes the simple ideas are the best. The ones that become obvious in retrospect.

This simple little device comes in a package that claims, "Won't put your guitar out of tune!". Obviously the string tension has to be slackened in order to fit the device without damage to the instrument. Altogether it takes about 2 minutes to fit or remove, including re-tuning.

Depending on the guitar, it rests on either the nut, fretboard, or headstock. If you have an outstandingly expensive or rare guitar, you might not be happy with this. It works for acoustic or electric guitars, but works better on acoustic, I find.

It benefits from nut lube when fitting, as the alloy exhibits friction against the strings which tend to bed in, and more so than any nut I've encountered before.

This is a poor solution if you intend to intersperse fret-fingered notes with slide: the action is so high that the effort is hardly worthwhile and the intonation is ridiculously far off.

Otherwise, this is a very simple idea that works very well for either bottleneck or lap steel.

Works as it should

I have bought a couple of these. One for a dobro conversion and one for an old acoustic that i wanted to use just for slide. On both occasions it has worked excellently. Will buy another for more conversions.

T
Excellent product
Thomas34 10.12.2015
Purchased this extension nut in order to convert a standard electric guitar for lap steel use. The nut is solidly made from cast metal and the string spacing is just about perfect for lap steel use. To get the best possible results I would recommend the use of heavy gauge strings and a good heavy tonebar, such as a Shubb or a Dunlop. It is definitely worth the extra money for the tonebar if you are intend to play lap steel regularly. It only takes a couple of minutes to remove the nut to convert the guitar back to standard use

Overall this is an excellent product, at a reasonable price, and I strongly recommend it.

Does the job
Mr Greggles 08.09.2020
I used this on an old guitar which needed a fret job and it turned it into a useful slide guitar. It is easy to install, solid, slotted in the right places to the right depths and just does the job it is designed to do.

There may be those who would like it to be shinier or heavier or a different colour, but I am perfectly satisfied with it

Excellent tool if you want to experience the slide guitar on a standard one and without changing anything. Just plug-and-play.

Helps you to play a regular guitar with a slide

Although I found the installation for occasional songs too time consuming for me, I guess for entire gig it can be used very well.

It rocks

I am not a professional musician - and the kit you purchase makes all the difference - fitting this over the nut on my resonator and using a heavier slide bar has upped my game tremendously

DIY lap steel, lots of fun!
Marcel5392 19.09.2019
Get an old crappy guitar and make a lap steel. All you need is strings, this nut, and a tonebar or slide. That will cost 10+10+10 euro and it is lots of fun! This would make a fun Christmas gift for guitarists who have almost everything, including too many guitars.
