The Hanika New Century Lattice guitar is an incredible bargain with modern features normally found on guitars costing thousands more. The guitar has a unique two hole bridge, arm rest, raised fingerboard, super thin lattice braced soundboard, and a sound port on the upper bout. The fingerboard is made with African Blackwood--looking darker than ebony and with a tighter grain. The body and sides are solid Rosewood with a solid spruce top.
The guitar has excellent projection, sustain, and the registers are equally balanced. The guitar responds well to right hand movement when applying different tone colors. The lattice bracing offers brightness, power, and clarity giving the guitar a more modern sound compared to traditional fan braced guitars which tend to be more woody and somewhat warmer sounding.
The instruments quality is absolutely top notch, on par with or better than any factory guitar built today. The fretwork is excellent and the frets were highly polished. The tuning keys work very smoothly. The only adjustment I made to the guitar was to lower the action about 1mm. The guitar comes with an extra bridge if one wishes to raise the action to 4.3mm. The natural finish is easy to keep clean, has a satin sheen and looks amazing! The guitar comes in a sturdy, high quality, Hiscox case. If you've though about owning a lattice topped guitar and can't afford the luthier price, the Hanika is the perfect choice.
