A great sounding little guitar
luftmietze 12.10.2023
I have had this little guitar for 4 months now.
I purchased it because I wanted something for Slide/ Delta Blues style playing. The sound samples I heard online convinced me to buy it as opposed to one of the larger guitars.
I asked Thomann to send me one with "pretty" wood grain and I am happy to say that is exactly what I got. So, for that, a big thank you to the Thomann team.

The pros:
The guitar itself is well put together with good finish.
The open pore finish looks authentic for the genre.
The wood grain is stunning.
The neck is extremely playable.
The truss-rod adjustment has remained correct since I adjusted it
The guitar sounds exactly like I had hoped. The sound is similar to a resonator style guitar and really has the Delta Blues feeling to it.
The tuners, that some other reviewers have complained about, are perfectly adequate. The hold their settings and are easy to adjust. Whilst they aren’t Gotohs they are better tuners than the ones on my Harley Benton DT120 CE. I play in Open D and Open G and therefore use them fairly often to change tunings without any problems.

The cons:
The frets!! These were the sharpest frets I have had on any of the guitars I have ever purchased from Thomann. It took me quite a lot of work with a file to get them sorted out.
The short scale can make tuning a bit problematic and intonation can be iffish if too much pressure is applied to the strings. Once you get used to it, it is OK and changing the strings really helped the intonation.
The strings the guitar came from the factory with were rusted. They were also not the gauge that are listed in the products specifications. They are actually thicker, which is a good thing. However the rust issues and intonation problems I had with them made me change them pretty soon.
The setup was terrible and I had to do a lot of adjustment on the truss rod to make it playable.
The fretboard was extremely dry and had a number of stains on it that I treated with oil. After treatment everything was OK.

In conclusion: I wanted a Slide / Blues Guitar and that’s exactly what I have. It sounds like I had hoped for and, after a bit of work, it is definitely worth keeping. The price certainly made up for any deficiencies.
If you want a regular guitar substitute, to play contemporary music, in standard tuning then this is definitely NOT the guitar to get!
However, if you wish to play Delta Blues style licks or swamp / mountain style music, slide included, then this is definitely a very useable little guitar. As I said previously it’s sound is closer to that of a resonator guitar. A number of other musicians are also of the opinion that it would be suitable for Celtic music in DADGAD tuning. I have not personally tried this though.

I am pleased with my purchase and I can spend ages noodling around on it with a ceramic slide. In the future I may upgrade to a bone bridge and saddle for it.
If you want an authentic blues sound and are prepared to put in a bit of work, then this is a good choice.

Pleased but not thrilled
MaximilienM 15.02.2022
I am satisfied with my purchase but not much more than that. I wanted a good looking tiny guitar to strum in the couch or at my desk and for that use case it's lovely.

Pros: looks absolutely gorgeous, stock strings sound good, perfect form factor for my needs, very pleasant neck, stays in tune adequately.

Cons :
Very rough fretboard, it's the worst feeling part of the guitar to the touch, which is a shame. A little bit of sanding and some varnish would have been nice, this feels like a freshly cut plank of pinewood (I may be exaggerating slightly).
Intonation gets pretty hilarious past the 7th fret (but this is intended mostly for open chords strumming so whatever).
Tuners do the job but feel flimsy.

All in all, a good guitar for the price but I'd be willing to pay extra for a model with a decent fretboard and slightly better hardware generally. It's likely I'll want to upgrade to something nicer in the future, but also quite unlikely that I'll ever get rid of it - it's a bit mediocre but terribly endearing.

Has that Delta Blues sound, great for slide in open tunings
stimresp 27.04.2021
I bought the larger Delta Blues O model as a practice guitar, but I was so intrigued by the sounds I heard from this little guy that I also put it in my basket. What the hell, such a low price, it was worth a punt. Both guitars were delivered quickly and in good shape.

Setup was perfect, just some oil for the fretboard, bridge and a quick fret polish was required. I think if you were to buy this hoping for a typical guitar sound you may be disappointed, but this is also its strength. It really does have that tinny Delta blues sound, with an almost resonator/banjo-like tone.

I put medium Bronze strings on it, along with a bone nut and I play it in open tunings (D,G) with a heavy brass slide and metal fingerpicks. I give it a good bashing and it really does sound convincing! As a slide guitar it is very, very nice and I am spending may happy hours noodling away on it.

The tuners are not the best but they keep it in tune. Other than that, I am really pleased with it.

So, not a guitar replacement IMO, but a little extra tasty sauce to have at the ready. For the money, it's a winner.

Good value for money, but...
Popinjo 01.02.2022
The guitar is a great "couch" guitar - for playing around just sitting on a sofa. It is also a practical guitar for travelling.
But, mine was not set-up/inntonated properly - believe it is because of the nut, but not sure.
So, the set-up is missing causing the intonation problems

Cute Travel guitar
Vasilis Tsianakas 06.02.2023
I own two full size dreadnoughts and a guitalele so I wanted something small enough to carry on trips and camping but with a standard tuning.
The guitar has good volume for the size though it sounds kind of "boxy".
It stays tuned with moderate strumming and picking, the neck is comfortable, the frets are fine but the fretboard itself feels like sandpaper when doing bends or vibratos.
Overall a good travel guitar.
I bought the tuner/soft case bundle : the tuner is ok , the gig bag fits like a glove with efficient padding and external pockets with plenty of space.

Nice but not great
Rsanz 08.04.2020
It is a nice guitar and I did not expect anything else for the price. Sound is not awesome but again, it is what it it.
I ordered the guitar because I wanted to have a small guitar I can carry everywhere and practice. Also so my little son will be able to start on the guitar in a year or so.
Overall I am satisfied with that guitar, but don't expect an awesome sound, it is good for practice and tiny so you can take it anywhere.

Amazing for the price!
Krisarlot 12.09.2020
I wanted a small guitar so I can move around with ease. This little guitar is amazing at that. It was a nice sound for its size and the finish is beautiful. My only problem was the fretboard was kinda rough but for the price I really cannot complain. Harley benton never fails to amaze with it's quality instruments at a low price!

a genuine retro feeling blues backpacker guitar
a muppet fan 29.05.2022
Overlook its slight tinny tone (which adds to its charm as retro sounding) and you will find a diminutive, well put together, compact guitar body attached to a very playable (even with my sausage fingers) neck. I bought this and the GS Travel mahogany and whilst the GS is Far superior in feel and tone for £10 difference, including a carry case too, this is great fun, simple in style and has a character all of its own.
