Harley Benton SC-550 II BCF

I reluctantly bought this after having to send back a kit guitar for my boy and I to practice on. It arrived. All seemed well. Great looking piece of kit however it didn't take long for us to start to notice it's faults. The first one was the pickups wobbling. Thomann said this was normal. The guitar tech I have since had look this guitar over said it's normal for them to move a bit but these are ridiculously wobbly and probably one of the reasons it doesn't sound right all of the time. Then there's the frets. As me and my son began to get a little better we both had the same problem. Some notes just sounded awful. It didn't seem to matter if we pressed hard or lightly we always got this horrible buzzing where the string was constantly clattering other frets further down the neck. We had the pickups replaced and the frets sorted out and this guitar sounds lovely now. That being said I gotta say the quality of products coming out of Thomann is pretty dire. Even the kirlin premium jack lead we bought has packed in and stopped working after less than 3 months of use. Unsurprisingly they no longer sell this product. Go figures huh?

As much as I'd like to say this guitar is trash it's actually not. Now that it has been sorted out it's a nice instrument however it shouldn't be down to the customer to get the instrument into proper working order. It should arrive at your door in full working order. Thomanns quality control is really poor. It's upto you if you want to buy it but for the money I've spent on this thing to get it right. I may as well have bought an epiphone in the first place in all honesty and get a better all round instrument.
