CLEAN CUT!
Photologik 13.03.2022
The Harley Benton solder-free patch cable kit is very useful, easy to make and the best price around!

Sometimes I just want to try a different configuration on my pedalboard and it's not always easy to find a patch cable with the right size and small connectors. This kit solves the issue!

To be honest, it took me a while to get this to work, I noticed that using a very sharp wire cutter works best (not the one provided), a clean cut is imperative. You've been warned.

I thought the cable would be better quality and initially I was a bit disappointed but actually the overall quality of this product is very good, I haven't experienced any noise so far and the advantage of it being so small makes it fit everywhere. That's a big plus!

Personally, I wouldn't use these cables for a permanent setup, it could be done and possibly I'm just old fashioned but to me this is more as a quick fix while experimenting with pedals or optimizing the pedalboard.

This kit is useful in many situations and cables can be done anywhere, fast and easy. It's a valuable asset in every guitarrist backpack.

PROS:
- simple, fast and easy to make
- good quality
- very small
- price

CONS:
- reliability (may not work every time or stop working. Handle them carefully)

B
Great value, easier than expected
BT13 19.02.2024
I’d never purchased a sollderless kit before. i knew they’d be easier than soldering but didn’t trust their reliability. Finally gave it a go and they were even easier and quicker than I had expected. Time will tell if they hold up with the wear and tear my pedalboard takes over time but so far so good. The price is incredible. Half the cost of other options I’ve seen. Only trouble I have is with cutting the wire using the supplied tool. Otherwise it’s perfect for the money.

Good

Easy to cut to size and fasten the connectors, no soldering makes it easy. Had for some reasone problems with making the patch cable work if it was a bit longer, around 30-40 cm and more - the cable didn't pass the signal through. But great for shorter cables. Just be careful to noe screw the connector too tight when fastening.

A good option for people that don't want to solder
Impulsive buyer 28.03.2022
Easy to use and to set up, but I was not really happy with the wire cutter so I had to use a knife, but that's a small inconvenience and really not the main focus of this product.

I will strongly agree with the perception of cabling provided as thin, which might be dissappointing even at this price point. So far, however, no issues. I guess corners had been cut cleverly here.

No issues with the screws in my case. Everything needed comes in the pack, which not only saves money but also time: you will be up and running in no time.

So far, I did not find a better solution amongst alternatives.

GI
Perfect, but no straight plug. WHYYYYY?
Giorgos Indie 24.07.2019
I write this review mainly for demanding from Harley Benton to produce straight plugs for this kit!!! I believe it's a major need. Pleaseeeeeee!

I tried to use Hicon HI-J63TC-SM for that, but it accepts a thicker cable so, I couldn't make it work, but the Rockboard PatchWorks Solderless Plugs are perfect (though very expensive compared to Harely Benton)

About the kit:
- Perfect for the packaging. thanks for keeping it simple. We don't want a ton of material for packing!
- Very high quality plugs!!
- Not that good cable, it's very thin for sure, BUT if used only for pedals or rack wiring I don't think there will be any problem.
- Very easy to setup!
Compared to the price of the other similar kits, Harley Benton prevails!

You lose 1 star for the quality because of the thin cable and 1 star overall because there is no straight plug available (I would be willing to buy 10 straight plugs independently for sure!)

Very Versatile
Efe Senyilmaz 26.02.2021
Super easy to make your own patch cables, sound is OK.
included cutter is not useful, I suggest you use a proper cable cutter (i.e. guitar string cutter) or even a scissor might do a better job.
3 meter cable is more than enough. Could have been better if there were more plugs or any chances to buy only the plugs.

A lot of cable for the money
Christophde 19.05.2020
So these came with instructions in German only. Luckily I know a little bit of German. If I could give Thomann a tip it would be to explain the part of cutting the cable a bit better. You have to delicately cut the sleeve and insulation before making a very clear cut. Once you have done that, it's easy and you have a nice set of angled cables at your own desired lenght.
Are these as sturdy and longlasting as soldered cables? Probably not, but if you need a cheap and decent set of cables for your board: these will do more than fine.
