Herco Spitballs are excellent for keeping the bore of the instrument clean in between baths, along with a leadpipe swab. Used once a week, they help to break down and remove food debris etc that may have collected in the instrument. I use one spitball with all valves open, and then the same spitball with all valves depressed. DO NOT USE WITH VALVES HALF DOWN! The spitball can get jammed. Each spitball should only be used for one cleaning, else there is the risk of mould.
The spitball fires out of the bell at quite a speed so either aim into a bin or, if you prefer, at a trombone or woodwind player.

Highly useful

I got this with the idea of prolonging the need to do a full bath and internal cleaning to the trumpet and it works great in that way. Instead of a full cleaning monthly (or once in two months) I just blow one of these through the horn (multiple times) to clean the residue once a week and when I do a full cleaning there's much less residue than before.
If you play everyday very often like myself these will help maintain the horn much easily. Small enough to fit in the case as well.

Good for cleaning quickly between proper baths

Great for keeping the bore of my cornet clean in between baths. I use them maybe once a week depending on how frequently I am playing. You can only use each one once but they are cheap enough that this is OK.

Have been using spitballs for years now and would highly recommend them.
