It works!

At first I was quite sceptical about these large tubes. I thought they would inhabit to much space in my studio for what they could contribute to the sound, but clearly I was wrong.
I bought a pair of them and use them as monitor speaker stands. Their height seemed just right for my Genelec 8040's. They cleaned up the low end rattle/fussiness of my speakers which I wasn't aware off. And I clearly get now more direct sound especially in the lower frequencies then before. Very happy with the purchase.
The build quality is fine, but not exceptional, I guess. I can only judge that over the years. That's why I gave 4 stars for quality.

Ideal!

The Basstraps are a significant upgrade! They now come filled with denim, making them much lighter and easier to handle. Additionally, they've enhanced the lids, which are now smoother, further improving their overall design and functionality. I can't emphasize enough how much I appreciate these improvements. The team has really done a fantastic job with this new model. Even the packaging is top-notch, reflecting the attention to detail and quality that went into creating these Basstraps. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking effective sound treatment solutions.

Sehr gute Lösung auch in spezieller Anwendung Very good solution even in special applications

For spatial reasons, my Genelec 8030 monitors are hung symmetrically in the near field at a distance of around 130 cm and a height of 140 cm to the corner of the room, which is of course acoustically suboptimal and causes bass booming from the corner. An over-corner desk also protrudes into this corner of the room. For some time I had Clearsonic panels near the walls in the corner. Acoustically it was OK. However, there were problems with a lack of air circulation and therefore with mildew. Gluing or screwing acoustic elements was also not possible for various reasons. The solution to the confusing problem came with the Hofa Basstrap V2, which I simply placed on the corner of the desk in front of the problematic corner of the room. The bass boom was eliminated immediately and since no gluing/screwing is required, I was able to determine the most optimal position relative to the Genelec speakers and the corner by moving it in just a few minutes. Last but not least, air circulation is now optimally guaranteed. CONCLUSION: The HOFA Basstrap does exactly what I was hoping for acoustically and solves my specific room problem in the simplest way. In less special situations it should be at least as acoustically effective. The flexible positioning without fastening always allows for quick acoustic optimization and situational changes.
