We use these (and the white versions) exclusively now to hang scenic cloths and gauzes in our community theatre. In our case the drop is only 3 metres (11 metres width - work in that one!) but they hold very well and there are no concerns of slippage. These days we just leave them attached to the cloths, rather than removing (which you can) and buy new ones for new cloths because the volume price breaks at Thomann make this cost effective.
The plastic is a decent tough type, not brittle or flimsy.
When received they are each attached to their injection mould plastic former: so get yourself a comfy chair in the evening, a cup of tea and something watchable on the TV and prepare yourself a bag full of them ready for use. It doesn't take long. Oh, and if you find out the use of the thin ribbed panel piece then let me know, it's not needed anywhere!

Stairville Holdon Mini black for Curtain
Rob5624 29.07.2015
Excellent little gadgets these. Have used them together with the Spanfix elastics previously to hold a backdrop for about 8 yrs worth of gigs with no slippage on any of them. I only order these new ones as we left our old backdrop at a gig ..oops.

Does exactly as it's supposed to.
Anonymous 04.01.2015
I would not be too quick to use these for a professional application. They work fine, they're just a little basic. They do what they're supposed to but I don't think they would last on a heavier material. Fine with the starter backdrop package.

fit for purpose
Steve835 04.03.2018
Good for holding onto very thin material so good for our use as we're attaching thin cotton material. Doubt they'd fit onto thinker fabrics like molton drapes though so you'd need that larger size for that.

Ingenious little invention
Padraig D. 13.06.2013
These are a very clever little invention. They give an extremely strong grip when used properly. They can be used to hang pretty much any material. That means they will have many uses in their lifetime. Great quality little item.

Simpleand easy

Keep it simple with these, as a permanent use of holding the backdrop it,s just great. Mabye would take a look for another option if you're going to take them out "live"

Fantastic Gadgets
HRL 17.07.2013
These are great little gadgets. Takes a little patience to figure out how to assemble them and how to attach them to the back drop but once you've figured that out, that's that - very good!

Useful but not the best design
Anonymous 16.09.2015
They are useful for the Stairville Acoustic curtain but they are hard too close over the material and the corresponding Spannfix 4mm pieces don't actually fit in the holes! I think that is as much a design flaw in the Spannfix as in the Holdon mini's, and although there are only so many ways to attach such items, I think they could have done a better job in design that. Solid material, tough with a tight grip on the fabric once closed properly, but difficult to close over thick acoustic fabric.

It's ok.

After you get used to "breaking" it to separate the parts it works fine. A little tricky to get it on the first couple of times though

Surprisingly strong
Anonymous 11.05.2014
Once I had figured out how to assemble these clips and fix them to our backdrop, I have been very pleased with how solidly they stay in place; not one has fallen off or been pulled off, even with some heavy-handed roadies!
