If like me you want to control your DAW to use as a looper pedal for acoustic guitar (and other instruments), the Blueboard is perfect, either for iOS or on Mac (and presumably on PC). The first version, which shipped with 1.0 firmware doesn't work with Mac, and the firmware updater is notoriously unreliable, so make sure to buy it new (for instance here on Thomann) rather than secondhand. The unit is all plastic and therefore isn't maybe up to the standard needed for a live gig, but for the home recording musician, it's brilliant, light, easy to set up and works great with most DAWs, guitar effects apps, etc, with a separate app that allows the re-routing of midi signals to the required destinations. For anyone looking for a truly full-featured (and very robust) alternative, the Xsonic Airstep is a marvel, but, especially when loop recording, its noisy click foot control buttons possibly make it more suitable for DI recording than for acoustic instruments.
