Excellent speaker for an excellent price
S. Walker 30.07.2021
I built a 112 cabinet for use at home with heads and as an extension with smaller speaker amplifiers, and I needed a speaker to go in it. This seemed like a great option. It is.

It has that very classic American speaker sound to it, warm but bright, and breaks up really well. It chimes in a way Celestions do not, like the original Jensens of which it is a reissue.

For bright, bluesy rock this is exactly spot-on, has that vintage sound that suits anything with a bit of twang. Also cleans up nicely for jazz/funk/pop. With the right amplifier (i.e. probably a Fender type) driving it, it is excellent indeed. Plays nicely with overdrives and light distortion but I don't think I'd be using it for metal.

It was well packaged, easy to install, and the dimensions on the Thomann site were accurate, I was able to use the diagram to CNC-cut a perfect-fit custom baffle before the speaker had even arrived.

I think you would have to spend quite a lot more money before you found a speaker that so clearly outperformed this one.

I was not satisfied when i first heard the speaker sound, but i putt it in a 1x12 cabinet and tried it with a 5E3 type amp and after about 1,2weeks it was sounding very good, and then with Fender Princeton reverb 65reissue,and it sounds fantastic compared to the stock Jensen C10R that sounds so bright i could not put the Treble on,alwais on Zero. With the C12Q i can put the Treble on 6. Wery classic fenderish powerful clean to dirty sounding speaker in the Fender Princeton reverb 65 reissue.

very articulated sound
StillRaW 09.02.2016
I have bought this to replace the stock speaker that was in my vox ac15c1, the speaker gave nice overall feel to amp sound it is now more articulated, clear and punchy. i have compared the amp now to a reverb deluxe fender, altough the power tubes are different, but the spe4aker give indeed the sound characteristic of the amp. very crucial part of the sound shaping. now with this speaker i can do fenderish sound as well as old marshal sound, ofcourse i play blues and rock (SRV, hendrix, john mayer etc)
the amp itself is very versatile and especially now with this speaker. i think it is a perfect match.
you might opt however to go for the 16 ohms, i personally took the 8 ohms to have the options in case i want to use it in a fender amp. watts wise, i think it is of for the amp 15 watts it is also recommended watts wise jensen website. regards

V
Jensen C12Q in Laney cub super 12
Viktoras 30.03.2024
Short story, I have a Laney cub super 12. Main guitars I use for it is Fender AO 60s strat, Gibson Les Paul slash, charvel dk24 HSH.I would consider myself strat guy. Laney seemed very mid focused and sounded muddy with strat. Acceptable tones were with boost engaged and volume turned to 7 (with treble bleed) and almost acceptable clean sound was with Fuzz Face with volume on 7.
With les paul, cranked to 8 and boss sd-1 in front sounded awesome.
So I thought of giving a try to Jensen to get a more pleasing clean sound with start and I couldn't be happier, sounds way more fender, could not believe the speaker makes such an impact.
However, LP now sounds kind of weird, fizzy, the graul seems less aggressive.
My conclusion for Laney cub super is if you want more fender style clean sounds, this seems to do the trick and I am very pleased but if you are more into humbucker style cranked rock sound, the original speaker seems to deliver better.Keep in mind this might have totally different effect on other style circuits.

S
A Good Budget Speaker For Old Fenders
Steven8503 22.02.2015
I bought two of these to go in a Harley Benton 2x12 cab for my 1968 Fender Bandmaster amp.
The sound is very clean and sparkly, just as you would expect Fender 'cleans' to be.
I think they have a good vintage 60's and 70's sound, kind of a Troggs, Animals, Beatles and West Coast surf kind of flavour.
These do seem to be quite a good match for the 60's Fender amps, at least to my ear.
They only have a relatively small magnet so don't take large amounts of bass well, but then this is not a speaker you would be looking at if you wanted to play Guns'n'Roses or Iron Maiden.
As someone who is more used to a Gibson through a Marshall with a 2x12 of Vintage 30's, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I am enjoying the Bandmaster played with a Strat through my new cab.
The Harley cab I put them in is a closed back and I think they need that. My guess would be that they would sound too thin in an open or semi open.
At this price they are good value and sound just the way I had hoped they would.

First of all - i play a lot of Rockabilly/Rock'n'Roll/Rhythm'n'Blues and Country stuff, so i was lookin for a speaker for a small DIY-cab. It's a one by twelve cab made of solid pine, so it's really leightweight like the cases of the Fender amps. So i decided to buy that C12Q-8 by Jensen (made in italy).
I got it today an all i have to say is: awesome little bastard!!!
This thing sounds amazing even its brandnew and totally stiff. Tight basses, nice trebles, singin' mids. You might know it from Fender :D Don't know if it would sound that good with a heavy cab like the Orange-things, but in my one it's doin' an amazing job!
