Well, it is a stand and it perfectly does what it is meant to do. I use it together with a Samson Go Mic and they seem to make a nice pair.
I also used it with a heavier Audio-technica condenser microphone and the assembly was very stable and convenient. So the stand can handle heavier microphones as well. It is pleasantly heavy, sturdy, nice to touch and look at. It is very well painted, too.
On its bottom it has a thik rubber ring that, AFAIK, should serve at least two purposes: sound isolation and surface protection.
All in all, I like it very muchn and consider it to be one of my best purchases. The same can be said virtually about all K&M products that I own (floor microphone stand, guitar wall hangers, microphone pop filter).
I think it is a perfect solution for a desktop broadcast/podcast studio, or for high-quality IP telephony, particularly suitable for those who use a notebook without a headset. I think one can think of many further uses. To give a final example, why not use the stand to put a mike in front of a guitar amp?
Highly recommend!
Btw, the stand is made in Germany!
