There's and old adage - buy cheap, buy twice.
This is especially true of mic stands.
I bought this to mic up my little vibro champ amp and as a less intrusive stand for mic'ing up acoustics.
The cheaper stand which this is replacing, really isn't up to the job. I must have saved a tenner at the most buying the cheaper one, which now just takes up space.
This one does the job it's supposed to. It happily holds a large condenser mic in place and makes mic'ing my amp up a lot easier. I haven't tried it on an acoustic yet but I'm sure it's fine - I have other k&m's. It will be ideal for mic'ing kick drums, which is it's main purpose but it's good for guitar amps, acoustic instruments (not as an overhead - it's too small)
It's a mic stand - there's not much to say really - it does the job. And that's all it needs to do. Cheaper stands don't, from my experience. You're not saving much on the cheaper stands - you'll only have to replace them so just get the K&M in the first place.
There are other solid stands out there - we have some in the studios I work at but I never look at the names on things like that.
Just get the K&M because you know it will do the job.
