Luxury strings - not the most durable
TimCelliste 28.09.2015
Certainly the best sounding strings I've ever tried. Worked especially well on my modern cello which is very dynamic but also tends to whistle on the A strings if not precautious. This set of strings is very coherent, allowed me to exploit the dynamic abilities of my instrument while keeping a very warm and round sound in all the pitches (at first at least).
However, despite their super-high price, those strings tend to age faster than average. The A strings starts to show its weaknesses (whistling, aggressive sounds) quite early. For a daily professional use, I wouldn't use the A and D more than two months, which is a pity for such high-end item.

Incredible set of strings
blueveek 23.05.2017
Compared to my old set, these Larsen strings are unbelievably smooth. With the right rosin and a good bow, they respond remarkably well. Your mileage might vary depending on the cello you have in terms of the actual sound characteristics that you're going to get, but my electric NS Design works fantastic with these strings.

The A string is the smoothest one I've ever used on a cello. Going up really high is mellow and pleasant, without any guttural or tinny overtones, while all registers provide fast response. I'd definitely say this string is similar in character to some non-metallic strings I've used in the past, or at least the sound itself doesn't have too much metallic characteristics to it. It's a pleasure to play on it.

I'm still getting used to the D string. It's definitely slower than the other ones in this set, but maybe it takes a bit longer to play into. It seems that the tension is a bit trickier to handle, as the bow response is better lower down the string compared to the A string. This results in a bit of awkwardness when having to change between low notes on the A and high notes on the D.

The G and C strings are similarly fantastic to the A string. Fast response and clear focused sound, even though they're not high tension like the other Larsen set.

I
The perfect strings
Idez 30.12.2018
I have used Magnacore cello strings on my two very different cellos for the past few years. I love the evenness of tone across all four strings, and they are great for getting a centred tone and also for intonation. When they are mixed with other strings, like using 2 on the top and something else on C and G, there is quite a difference depending what the other strings are, so I usually recommend my students to use the whole set. I don't think one ever broke on me and I replace around once a year. For big solo concerts after many hours every day of playing they would get a little dull as would any good string after that amount of time, but even after three years I have heard students playing on them and they haven't broken and still sound good. I pass on my old ones and the difference of a year old set of Magnacore to any other used strings is really good. I always feel happy when a set arrives and I can rely on them to always sound and feel good.

Strange experience
Razamanta 18.03.2023
I bought two sets of this strings, one for me and one for my friend. We started playing together on this sets. My set was great, it keeps pitch very well and has nice tone! However my friend was completely unhappy with G and C strings. Both of the strings not keeping pitch. If you press more you can even get to C sharp on C string and G sharp on G which is not nice at all on new strings. After few month it still unchanged. So I don't know what to say. Only idea i have is that thomann sent to us one new set and one old.
